    Default Lunar New Year Special

Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is sometimes called the Lunar New Year, especially by people outside China. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first lunar month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: zhēng yuè) in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th.

According to tales and legends, the beginning of Chinese New Year started with the fight against a mythical beast called the Nian or "Year" in Chinese. Nian would come on the first day of New Year to devour livestock, crops, and even villagers, especially children. To protect themselves, the villagers would put food in front of their doors at the beginning of every year and believed that after the Nian ate the food they prepared, it wouldn’t attack any more people.

Once, people saw the Nian was scared away by a little child wearing red, they then understood that the Nian was afraid of color red. Hence, every time when New Year was about to come, the villagers would hang red lanterns and spring scroll on windows and doors. People also used firecrackers to frighten the Nian and from then on, the Nian never came to the village again.

Traditionally, Red envelopes or red packets (Mandarin: 'hóng bāo' (紅包) are passed out during the Chinese New Year's celebrations, from married couples or the elderly to unmarried juniors. It is common for adults to give red packets to children. Red packets are also known as 壓歲錢/压岁钱 (Ya Sui Qian).

Red packets almost always contain money, usually varying from a couple of dollars to several hundred. The amount of money in the red packets should be of even numbers, as odd numbers are associated with cash given during funerals (帛金 : Bai Jin). Since the number 4 is considered bad luck, because the word for four is a homophone for death, money in the red envelopes never adds up to $4. However, the number 8 is considered lucky (for its homophone for "wealth"), and $8 is commonly found in the red envelopes.

So what does this has to do with Khyber. Jan 26 will be day 1 of the Lunar New Year. On day 3, Jan 28, I'll be hosting a event to celebrate the festival. Gambling is a very common practice during the Lunar New Year and thus I'll take this opportunity to create some fun as well as awareness for the festival. A LFM will be put up to advertise for the event. As with the previous contest held by me, the event will be held in the Phoenix Tavern situated under Lordsmarch Bank in the Marketplace. As Jan 26 is a normal working day for me, it means American players will be working while I'm hosting the event. As such, I'll add Jan 29 (Jan 28 for Americans) for another round of festivities. Any special draws will be held on that date.

This is what it takes. It'll take 1 vale ingredient to enter the game. Any ingredient is acceptable. Yes i know most are going to give me petals or husks but it doesnt really matter. Both me and the other player will roll a 1d100. This is the outcome of the result.

Same number rolled as me: 3 Large Scales or Stones (Roll another 1d2 to determine what you get)
Rolled number is within 5 from me: 1 Large Chain, Shrapnel or Bone (Roll another 1d3 to determine what you get)
Rolled number is within 10 from me: 10000 plat
Rolled number is within 25 from me: 2500 plat

As you can see, there is a 50% chance of winning something. This is to hope that everyone can have fun. Note that the prizes do not stack.

What about new players or anyone who do not have any vale ingredients? No worries. There will be a chance for you to play as well. You do not need anything to roll. There is absolutely no entrance fee for the roll but prizes will be different. This is what you get.

Same number rolled as me: 10000 plat
Rolled number is within 5 from me: 2500 plat

Again, the prizes do not stack. Only 1 roll will be allowed per character.

Special Event 1: Da Lootmaster Draw
All contestants will roll 1d1000 in addition to whichever event they entered for. The player who has the highest roll shall recieve from His Royal Luckiness, Boldrin, a +1 wounding heavy pick of puncturing. In event of a draw, Boldrin shall row a dice to decide the winner of the special event. The winner shall recieve his/her prize in the mail.

Special Event 2: The Holy Grail
All 1d1000 rolls will be recorded. At the end of the event, I'll invite The Holy One, Blakroc, sponsor of the prize (+2 charisma tome), to roll. The number closest to his roll will recieve the tome.

Special Event 3: The Path of the Gimped
As with the other 2 special events, the 1d1000 will yet be used for another prize, a Superior Focus of Earth. A must have for anyone waiting to build a Mineral II. The lowest roll will with the focus. Get it from His Royal Gimpiness, Hordo! Fret not if you are not gimped enough, next lowest will get a +1 charisma tome.

    Special Event 4: Project DDO
Post a screenshot of your finest gear in this thread and stand to win +1 charisma tomes. Categories are divided into armor and robe wearers. Judging criteria will be based on the theme "Lunar New Year".

Special Event 5: Hide N Seek
Seek out Gypsy Mouse's character in Stormreach. The first to get to her wins a +1 dexterity tome. There are 2 tomes to giveaway!

    Special Event 6: Stormreach Trivia
2 rounds of trivia will be posed with a +1 intelligence and +1 wisdom tomes as prizes. Random participants will be sent a private tell asking about Stormreach city and its citizens. The first person to give the correct answer will win the tome. Many thanks to Gypsy Mouse for the prizes for events 4-6.

    Special Event 7: Shroud Lunatics
Closest roll of d1000 to mine will get 5 of each Large Ingredient for a total of THIRTY larges, enough for you to build that double shard! The next closest will get 500 000 platinum. May the lucky one strike BIG!

This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

Yay!! I knew there'd be a way to profit out of giving away a wop, lol. Oh and I want to make sure even the free entrants who have no ingredients get to roll on it too. I think it would be great for a newer player to get a WoP.
