Question Will we ever get Druids?

I am wondering if we will ever get a Druid class. I think it would be an interesting addition to the game with the shape-shifting abilities. You could only wear non-metal armor and wield simple weapons and scimitars. You could cast spells of healing and nature and elemental type magic. It would be sorta like a cross between a ranger, cleric and sorcerer I guess but with the shape-shifting abilities as well. From basic animals like a wolf progressing up to creatures like were-tigers and such. Please let me know what you all think. Thanks!

I think they should have released them a long time ago without shapeshifting, but I am in the minority on that. They, along with some other things, are long past due.

I think we will get them around mod 10 or 11 the hold up is the shapeshifting and I would have hated for them to release druids without that as that is a core ability and they wouldnt be true druids without it.

They have said druids is the next class they will implement. Now as for a date, that's a trickier question.

Heh that's what I've been saying about cleric's domains.

While domains would be nice it doesnt compare to druids not having shapeshifting

I believe the hirelings are the first step towards the druid class.
The main ability of the druid is not only to shapeshift but to summon and have companions.
And we all know summons suck.

So the druid class is impossible to work on in just one module, stepping stones and patience is the only way to go.

Yes.. shapeshifting is a core ability.

I'd still rather have a capped druid now, and waiting on shapeshifting for a later mod.

But that's just me. At least that way.. I could be working on my druid at the same time the devs are working on druids.

I don't expect druids any time soon, and maybe not even at all.

Not likely, my take is they had some kind of contractual obligation to "finish" the game with WOTC so they had to make it to level 20.

After the next Mod they will go on maintenance mode and we will get no more updates.

    That is my prediction anyway

The thing that confuses me is that shapeshifting shouldn't be all that difficult to program/code. It's been done in NUMEROUS other games before now. Bloody hell, Everquest had it in at release, and that game was out in 1999 (yes, almost 10 years ago).

    *boggle*

Not to slam the devs or anything, but.... come on guys. Get on with it, already.
Your gamers will only wait so long for things that *should* have been in at release.

Bump SP to Sorc levels, and I would gladly go without Shapeshifting. Druids are the ultimate Battle Caster, and full parties of Druids would be a sight to see.

Well, the beauty of a Druid is that there are several ways to play one. You have the various Clerical roles (i.e. battle caster; backline healbot; divine magic nuker), but you also have the added roles of shapeshifted meleer, and playing "pet" class role by buffing/healing your animal companion, and sitting back and watching the carnage. It's quite a versatile class, and should be quite fun if/when implemented.

Let's also hope they get the druid spells correct.
The clerics get their blade barriers. But the druids get to call down lightning from the skies

I'd also love to see some of the epic shapeshifting stuff added later on.
Being able to take an elemental form and, possibly, even a dragon-shape at later levels would be incredible.
