It's not easy to set up a tripod and lug your camera around everywhere during the quest. "Excuse me, Mr. Paragon Kobold. We're trying to take some pictures here, do you mind waiting for just a second while I set this thing up? Great. OK. Now look really angry and try to kill me!"

The second run took a little longer because 1.) I was taking a lot of pictures including about 100 others that I didn't post lol and 2.) I ended up killing everyone of the elementals at the end where as last time I only killed 1. They have a lot of hp and when soloing it takes some time to take them down. Or at least it takes me a little while to talk them down. Gunga and Cloud I wonder about you two somtimes... ok often... lol.

Fair enough, those are as plausable as what I was thinking and in the interest of always giving someone the benefit of the doubt....grats on both runs. You have inspired me to take Kehgeld "Mr. Crucible" 'Wraein and all of his 20 Reflex 29 AC 43 UMD 100 Q*bert Skillz (not to be confused with Uber Skills) and beat your time...

Seal can't complete anything, solo or with a group. I am almost as gimped as Handee on all my toons.

After reading all of the drama in this thread yesterday I went home last night and ran it on elite as well. I've soloed it on normal and hard without problems so I thought I'd give elite a shot...

Well I soloed it as well as Jen, for about a minute, maybe a minute and a half.

'Grats and hats off man, it was a whole new experience. I knew it was going to be tougher, but the biggest problem was the added time for kills added up quickly against me on saves, etc. Gonna have to rethink my build, lol.

I haven't even seen Cam in days. I look every night to see if hes online and hes not, maybe hes taking vacation. I waited up for him last night, but when he didn't show I just ran the quest myself and made sure I took a ton of screen shots. He prob wont consider that part of the bet because he wasn't in there as an "observer" but whatever if he still wants to say I can't do it because of my lack of "solo skill" and that its just not possible because I can't heal myself fast enough or whatever his reasoning was then he can just go argue with a wall because I'm done. I don't have anything more to prove about that quest. I still think what he did was pretty messed up to call me out in front of everyone and not just call me out but insult me... but hey its okay and I will tell you all why. Because Gunga Likes bagels too! Henny in my Cup thats wassup!

I haven’t posted in 4 or 5 pages because there was nothing else to add. Jenesis, I logged on yesterday just to loiter around and wait for you, but you were at work. I logged on this morning to loiter around and wait for you. Apparently our schedules aren’t matching atm. I will be on Thursday from ~8 AM PST till Noon, Friday till ~ 6 PM PST, and all day Saturday. Nick is in Vegas so we may have to find another arbiter.

Now, back to substance: To me the difference between 65 minutes and 99 minutes is relevant. This should jump off the page to anyone who really does solo. As you can see in the screenies, he does get hit. Some of you, particularly those who don’t even play on our server, have decided that you’re going to be against me when you don’t even know me. Challenging someone you don’t even know is a whole separate act from challenging someone you DO know, and play with several times a week.

It takes time to heal yourself in combat. If you only have pots, wands, tasty hams and finite CMW, it involves some kiting, because you can’t be swinging and wanding at the same time. That’s what runs up completion times. The more damage you take, the longer your completion. That’s just the way it is, no way to get around it.

The screenies show minimal damage that one or two pots could resolve, sure. But don’t be so naïve as to think that the only screenshots taken are the only damage he took. It looks like he solo’d the quest in the new screenies, but it took him a full 50% longer. Tells? Taking pictures? He doesn’t type that slow and a screenshot is a push of a button.

The bottom line is that a 99 minute completion, based on my own experience, is far more credible than a 65 minute completion. Who here solo’d anything 50% SLOWER on their second run than they did on their first? If he’d come out w/ 99 minutes from the get-go, we might not even be having this conversation because of the fight, fight, heal, fight, fight, heal nature of soloing. I could have bought that he fought the ellies a bit, stopped to recover, fought some more, stopped to recover. I could have bought that. But not in 65 minutes. And I still don’t.

Regarding the bet, what I intended to do was put up the money, go in and be very quiet. I want to play fair, not be accused of distracting him or anything. But I knew it was going to take him longer than 65 minutes to do it and that was where I’d have had him. If you can survive a scorching ray, failed comet fall save, or failed DBF save, then you could conceivably kite and pot. That’s what I thought he was going to do, but then he’d have never made it in 65 minutes, or even close. So yeah, that was where I planned to get him.

The fighting? Eh. The wolf room w/ the gate switch? Eh. The Paragons? Eh. I didn’t expect him to have much trouble in those cases. You all know they cheat for the wolves. You can even see in his screenie that they hit him. On Elite, hit = tripped, and then they run a train on you regardless of AC. He probably was able to get up and still win the fight, but again, because of the healing, it runs up completion times. Same w/ the Paragon’s To Hit. These ain’t Waterworks kobolds. Again, I’d bet Jenisis beat them w/out much issue but I don’t believe he didn’t get hit and didn’t need to fix himself up. I’m sure you Sportscenter fans can just hear Chris Berman “Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.”

I thought that if he did it at all solo during the live bet run, it’d take him over 100 minutes. I’d have paid him on the completion, but I for darn sure would have pointed out the difference in completion times. Because I still don’t believe that the original run was solo no healing no buffs.

Jenisis and I play together several times a week. This is not one random guy challenging another random guy. What if the parties were Me and Davey, or Me and Mhykke, or Me and Jeryl, or Me and Nick, or any of the guys I spend hours with each week? Two guys that hang out ought to be able to discuss or debate anything they want, without people who don't know EITHER of them meddling for the sake of being argumentative. This whole thing unfolded on the forums, but on the ARGO forums, where we all know each other. If you don't know any of the parties involved, it kinda compromises your ability to arrive at informed opinions. Most of you are talking in general terms of what a particular build ought to be able to achieve, while I'm talking in terms of what specific players can achieve. Huge difference. Not an insult to Jenisis because for the umpteenth time, he's a great player that we wanted in Bloodlords. So, you're welcome to participate in the thread, but please keep your comments in perspective. Jenisis and I have been in parties where 2 or 3 guys were working on Prey while he was over in Kobold clearing. Being one of a couple of us zerging Prey while he's clearing Kobold gives me an infinitely better perspective of what's up than any of you inter server guests, and most of the people even on our own server. Just like a lot of you on other servers, we may have a all three flagging quests in progress at the same time so the guys in need can just hop over and freeload the essence and be done with it.

Also for the umpteenth time, I never said that Kobold Elite cannot be solo'd. So stop w/ the "Just because you can't, doesn't mean it can't be" BS. First of all, I HAVE done it on rogue in a very ugly 140 minute, multiple re-entry effort. It was so ugly, and so shameless, I UMD'd leftover Cloudkill scrolls to kill the wolves in the wolf room and separate the mephits from the spells in the end fight. Don't get me started on ugly. The point is, I never said it couldn't be done because I myself have done it.

Lastly, on Argo, we will continue to debate issues among people who know each other without the boilerplate disqualification of "You must not know your DDO". In game and generally on the forums we discuss issues with people we know giving them due respect for their general knowledge of the game. The thing I hate most about the forums is that you try to discuss something w/ someone you know on your server, and some dweeb from left field jumps in and starts meddling when he doesn't know the difference between Directional and Groan. SOME of the guests from other servers have shown the decorum to preface their comments w/ AFAIK or "I don't know you guys but...", at least acknowledging that there may be some elements they aren't privy to, and I do appreciate that. I would never in a million years come in and start talking about what a toon could or could not do, or whether someone knows their DDO, or whether a person thinks they're God, unless I knew who I was talking to and knew what I was talking about.

yes a screenshot takes a second, but to placate you and any other naysayer he had to open up screens and such so let's say each one takes 2 secs. further, in those 2 seconds he is taking extra damage that he otherwise would not have taken, so, for every ss we're adding on up to 10 seconds.

considering the fact that he probably did not post all of his ss it is not unlikely that all the extra ss alone accounted for an extra 5-10 minutes.

considering the fact that on elite solo runs of elite content you don't get the same completion time every time, i'd say a 15 minute range either way is more than fair, almost required.

as for the extra 5-10, maybe he had to take a dump or grab a drink. hopefully not both at the same time

so, other than the fact that you feel the need to see it to believe it, what are your problems with his second set of ss?

You were the one that called him out in the forums and basically said he was a liar. Arc jumped in to support your position and thus began all of the inuendo of him "cheating" or not "soloing" the quest. There were 3 clerics "watching", etc...

I don't play on your server and I don't know you guys, but if you actually are guildmates, friends, and play frequentely together, the way you called him out on the forums seems to me to be out of line, and that was the issues that many posters addressed in their posts.

99 minutes versus 65 minutes, whatever. Saying that you would have called him out on that, after the fact, to just shows a lack of class. He was on and running it, you said you would be on to watch it. He was there.

I haven't been able to solo it on elite yet. Maybe I won't be able to without a significant increase in my gearing or dramatic change in my build, but I still have to give the guy credit. The number of screen shots and a close review of them are proof enough.

From what I have "heard" about both of you, I wish I had a char on your server to run with you guys. But I think it is time for both of you to move on, or better yet, duo it and see how quick the two of you can finish it.
