Default How can you buy LOTRO for download?

I was wanting to try Lord Of The Rings Online, but I can't find anywhere on lotro.com to try or buy it in a downloadable form? Is the buying the box the only way to get it?

Being the Christmas season, it seems the digital download was disabled to encourage people to purchase the Mines of Moria box.

You can download the game, but wouldn't have a key to setup an account, and trial accounts are disabled for now as well.

So, buying the box, or having an account already are the only two ways that I am currently aware of.

If you do have a work-around for an account, the download page is here

Edit - May I suggest the server Meneldor? Some DDO peeps there in the level 1-20 range, with a few higher to feed the little ones.

I went and bought the game at Best Buy. Probably a mistake. It has most of the features that I hated when I tried Vanguard, and City of Heroes.

Most frustrating of all is, though I registered for the forums, they don't recognize me, and I AM STUCK trying to do a simple crafting quest.

Why do the masses like games that suck, and leave a genuine diamond like DDO to die a content barren orphan?

Is there a guild started? I'd be interested in hooking up with DDO folks. Might have to transfer characters from Gladden, but oh well!

As an aside .. DDO folks will recognize many features in LOTRO that were suggested ad naseum on DDO forums over the years .. and the game balance is rock solid. Still play DDO however, but just casual now.

Yes, we have a guild - Temple of the Frog (to honor PnP D&D - first module).

We balance both games, with some leaning more towards DDO playtime, and some leaning toward LoTrO. Helps keep boredom at a minimum.

Temple of the frog isnt the first dnd module in fact the temple of the frog acutal module didnt come out until 86 but the first appearence of the temple of the frog in comercial print was a partical discription in back of the original blackmoor supplement for orignal dnd

Blah blah blah.. Temple of the Frog WAS the first adventure available for playing. Beat words around all you want, I was there - and I still have it. Greyhawk was the first supplement, Blackmoor was the second, Greyhawk had no adventure.. Blackmoor did - TEMPLE OF THE FROG. Later it became an actual module, and it is common to refer to the first inking of Temple of the Frog as a module.

Would still trade it off for an original (orange cover) B3.

Ok, I looked at the original Blackmoor supplement. Pages 28-47 are Temple of the Frog, maps, dungeon levels, everything. Hardly a 'partial description in the back'
