This post is not meant to be a B*$#! session, but an observation as to what I think was actually meant to attact new players and teach them the ropes, will in fact turn them away, because they will have nobody to help them.
Let me start by saying, I dont really mind doing the Korthos Village or Korthos Island quests. I did the "old" versions of the same quests (usually N/H/E) when leveling many new toons. So its not the fact that they need to be done (of couse with the addition of Misery's Peak) in order to reach the harbor, but that a player that has done the whole Korthos Island experience tutorial once, and therefore will most likely skip it in the future with newly created toons, cant group with someone who has not skipped the tutorial after character creation.
What this will mean, and I encountered it when making a new toon, is that I could not group with certain level 1-3 toons. The toons in question had either been created before the update, even if they hadn't left the tavern, or was the 2nd or 3rd toon created after the update and upon leaving character creation choose to skip the tutorial.
If Turbine is trying to get new players to the world, it is counter productive to basically force all newbs to group together, so nobody knows what they are doing. These trial players in question need to be able to group with experienced players who can answer questions and guide them around (if they are willing of couse). I spentover 3 hours last night runnig quests and along the way helped 4 new players to the game set up voice chat and a push to talk button, expanding their toolbars, etc., etc. I wasnt forced to help them, but I was forced to only party with toons that were on the same Korthos Island experience as myself. I dont mind helping new players, giving advice, etc., but there needs to be a way that in the future, when I do in fact skip the tutorial, I will be able to group with new or old players.
I think that Turbine needs to allow any newly created characters to group together, no matter if they skipped the tutorial or not. My god, the quests are levels 1-3 and you are telling players that they cant group together.
