Well I think the real question is to zerg or not to zerg. I have made a point of making ALL my toons self sufficient. When running with my gaming buds everyone splits off and heads in their own direction to a quest objective. Which turns 30 min quest into 10 mins. Do we plan who goes where ?..... nope. We just run in and get it done. And its a blast to do. The problem with this is Pug runs who count on a cleric, caster...etc following ppl around helping them to be bad players and by that I mean not having your pots, wands, clickies and what nots. Not all team players are bad. Sometimes the party MUST act as a team. But if your coming to a quest unprepared expect to die.... a bunch. Not having a remove blindness pot when your blind, remove curse pot when cursed.. dead. Not having cure wands, scrolls, pots... dead. Not shopping with Qwijy ... broke. Its that ez.

Here is a little thing I do on my frist toon that has a hard time healing himself... Grab ALL the mobs in quest and run to the nearest shrine I find that they can't keep me down! They may zap meh but I win.... they cant rez!

Note its a blast to do this when everyone else is resting at the shrine!

If you ever find yourself resting and hear a "CHOO-CHOO" sound, look out... The Forlorn Train is coming in to the station!

    1) The challenge. Soloing can be difficult, but dragging a group through a quest makes soloing look easy!
    2) The humor. Some of the things said/done in car crash PUGs will make you drop your mouse onto the floor in shock.
    3) The satisfaction. Once in a while, you get a group like this that manages to pull itself together and accomplish something.
All good points strakein. Sometimes i'm just not in the mood though. Other times i've actually roflmao'ed!

I log in and get a "help us do ghola" tell/invite. So I join the group - 1 caster, 1 barb, 1 pally, 3 rogues (two of 'em hybrid).

On my way there, someone says that it will be difficult with only 3 rogues. I think to myself... there's two capped chars here, everyone else is lvl 14 and up, running frickin GHOLA on hard? What's the difficulty there? I secretly wonder to myself if this will end up being a solo run with a bunch of pocket stones...

One of the rogue hybrids mentions that he only sees one rogue (implying that the others are more like melee fighters). The pally replies with "I dunno, I see four squishies" (I assume the fourth was the sorc).

After going through the first wing, it's obvious that the rogues aren't getting hit, the barb is self-healing (1 lvl sorc), and the pally (capped) is the squishie.
We hadn't even gotten halfway through the quest when the pally died (for the second time), said "screw this no cleric", recalled and dropped. It might have been my comment that we should send a squishie to go fetch the pally (again).

The remaining "squishies" finished the run without issue.

    /sigh (lol)
Hiya Strakeln, first and foremost let me wish you a Happy Festivult and thank you for the wonderful service you provide to your fellow Khyberians...

However, in the poor Paladin's defence, I have been in quests and run out of heal pots and have wished for a cleric... He may have been levelling up his toon for the first time, and he didn't have the resources at his disposal to be self-sufficient... On the other hand that doesn't give him a right to be rude to his fellow party members....

If for whatever reason, you're in a group and need a cleric or a back-up healer... my clerics and bard and umd sorc's are at your disposal (they can all keep themselves standing and the rest of the group besides...

Wiz can't hit the int runes, cleric can't hit the wis runes but we clear the way to the left and right passages easy enough. Takes the left team 10 minutes to do the puzzle.

Then we get to the corridor with the force traps.

The rogue dies 3 times and blows up 2 of the traps after saying they should be a snap. The cleric and fighter decide to try their luck and both die. By this time, i'd chewed through a fair number of raise dead and heal scrolls on my bard so i called it. That car-crash-pug fascination kinda wears off after a while, lol.
Dunno how the rogue could blow up the traps in XC, especially in that lvl range. I know its not much of an achievement but my pally/rogue, at lvl 10 with 1 lvl of rogue thus far found and disabled the trap in cabal, only on normal, but nonetheless i was kinda happy with how its progressing. If a gimp pally/rogue can do that, how can a rogue, unless seriously gimped, blow up the traps in XC?

Unfortunately, I don't think there was much of an excuse for this (level 16!) Pally. While I don't run one, I know they have Lay on Hands and access to cure spells, and that he died with a bunch of mana each time.

I have no problem with folks that are new, need a helping hand, or don't have the funding to be self-sufficient... but I might suggest that those who find themselves in such positions refrain from calling others "squishy".

...lest they end up the topic of a rant-n-cuss!...

I agree. Since most of my guild left, I've been pretty much exclusively pugging* since the summer. It's always a different experience. It can definitely keep the game fun if it gets old for you.

*Note: On Hound/Shroud/etc. runs I seem to meet up with the same people, so I guess it is technically a PUG, but seems like a pseudo-guild run at times.

U[date on the speed run comment from the other post thats pretty mch dead, lol.

Pugs and speed runs don't work, unless you have half the party used to speed runs, lol. Ran 2 semi speed runs today, no looting minmal buffing etc, still took 40 mins each. I normally run 45-50 so it only shaved 5-10 of my average run, definitely not worth it for me, but I tried.

    Default Noob Question

Are there heal pots better then Cure Serious? I have been away for a while and that was the highest lvl pot you could have at that time. For a non blue bar player these car not to affective and you really need a healer. But a healer class should be able to help themselves at least a little. I am so glad me and my wife play together. I fighter she heals :P

you need to get silver flame favor. 400 is needed for the 250 hp pot. however, drinking the pot will reduce your stats by 10 for a while
If you want to know why...

This is definitely true. I was doing an elite Tear of Dhakaan last night on my 8 cleric/1 barbarian. Everyone in my pug ended up dying (not because of my heal skills, btw, I heal while battle-clericing). I then solo'd the next five or six rooms on my way to a shrine when two of the people decided to recall out and come back to "help". The amount of mobs they drug to me by running through the whole instance doomed me. Had I been solo, though, I'd have finished the quest easily.

It's been awhile since I've been in Azeroth, but IIRC, Leroy's got much higher AC than 50.
