i feel gimped 30 dex

this maybe should be in ranger forums but i value the opinion of my fellow khyberians.

many of my ranger counterparts have told me the have a dex of 34 36 38. mine is 30 i feel i may be gimpd so i was wondering am i really gimped or are they gimped in other areas

my stats are
str 24+2 rams
dex 30 +1 if i wear +6 item no need to right now
con 19 (335 hp) ya its low but i have 62 ac to make up for it .(no monk iether)
intel 13
wis 22
char 11

what do other rangers stats look like? should i make a dex shroud wep to give me 3 more dex tp put me at 34

ur ranger is pretty good, i grouped with him before.

30 is not a low Dexterity stat in this age of Strength-based Rangers.

nothing really wrong there. if you play your toon good than that's it. Although you might want to work to get more HP. 60+ AC or not, you want to aim for 400 HP if you can.

After cap raises look at your options, stay pure ranger or mix. 22 wis is good to add 2 monk. 2 free feats more AC, but at this point wait to see what you'll loose.

Assuming you are weapon finesse based, do you feel the extra two to hit, to your reflex save, and to your AC (30 DEX -> 34 DEX) is worth giving up the DPS you can gain from using a real weapon in that hand, as opposed to one that has Exceptional Dex +1 and +2 for the 2nd and 3rd tiers? I would think not.

My guess would be that the difference is either in your race or where you spent your level points. Unless you are noticing a problem though I doubt you have one.

It's a little low and your wisdom is higher than it needs to be.

But you're hardly gimped. People worry too much about min/maxxing.

well i never really have problems hitting anything and i dont get hit very often unless i forget to use CE but the 2 more ac and reflex save sounded nice. i cant do monk because i am not lawful good.(chaotic nuetral) but if i were +6 ac from wis would be sick

At the expense of, say, Good Burst and Good Blast on your weapon of choice (rapier, if I recall, right?). Nah, there needs to be balance. I've seen plenty of 36/38 DEX rangers who hit like a wet noodle, even against favored enemies, just as I've seen plenty of 30 STR dwarf rangers get wrecked by AOEs and traps.
