Hmm... Well.. Here's the deal.

Shutting down a quest.. Any quest.. Is something that turbine can do, without any actual involvment in changing the game code. They have the technology available, without needing to change the game's code, get it tested, and pushed thru any type of qa process.

I'd imagine, based on previous posts, that the "turn off death pact" idea involves changing game coding, and is not something that they can do from their servers.

I don't have any idea of the exact timeframes involved, but I'd say there's a good chance that this process wouldn't have gotten the shroud up too many days earlier than their current plan is going to.


I don't blame turbine for this one.. I blame our fellow gamers, who decided to mess up their fellow party members gaming experiences, and now this is the result.

Same type of people who were determined to summon pets when the pit fiend was buggable, even tho the rest of the party said they didn't want to...

That's who the fingers need to get pointed at in this case.

I don't really care who exploits what quest, or what the definition of exploiting is... Just make sure everyone involved is on the same page.

Well considering the removal of the spell would require a patch ... and the patch would require testing (remember the lag caused by a meer server restart anyone???). Also remembering how many people out there actually REQUEST turbine to NOT rush fixes so that they do not cause more problems than it fixes. SO that is exactly what they are doing and because people can not resist exploiting they decided to turn off the quest because just handing out bans was not working. Seriously people ... remember more than just the last 5 mins and look into the future more than just the next 5 mins.
