    Default Preferred Duo Class

My friend and I are returning after a long absence. He is sure to go with a monk. Can I get some input as to the best class to complement a monk in mostly duo outings?

In a past life, I played dwarf fighter, drow sorcerer, and human cleric.

A bard would be a nice complement. But if your rich and can afford pots (i.e. barks, haste, rage), a battle cleric would be great!

A friendly wizard would help with over all dps, cc, and buffage in my book too.
Q&A is the business of pointing out others' failures. Optimists need not apply.

I don't think u can build bard with monk due to alignment issues. I.e. Monk always lawful and Bard can't be lawful.
I've seen few builds with Rogue or Cleric with Monk.

Go with a dwarf warchanter bard. I don't have a build for one, but there have been quite a few on the bard pages in the last few months. Generally its a high str, high con, medium charisma build. Sometimes it splashes other classes, sometimes it does not, but it complements any melee class. You can heal, you can kill, and you can make your monkish companion a better killing machine as well. If you take 15 levels in bard, then you can also give him an extra 4ac.

Thanks for the input - I'm working on a warforged sorc/rogue and a dwarf bard/warchanter. Will be interesting to see how they mesh.

If you both go the path of light monk then you can BOTH try out monks, and since both have healing abilities you can probably do pretty well (especially if you both build for very high AC).

    Default high A/c

    halfling...12 ranger (tempest)/2 rogue/ 2 monk

This is a very nice build, end game AC 74, 38umd, and ability to cast 30 res/fire/cold/elec/cold/sonic

How ever this is a long build, but very fun to play...it requires chat ring/shroud ac4 weapon/braces7/ ice ramaits....

you would start 1st level rogue for skill point....put all in fighting skills, spot, jump, intm, balance, tumple and umd ...no rogue skills this is a high ac tank, your feat choice will be dodge

next you will go 2 monk for your 2 feats and early evasion...feats will need to be mobilty, and spring attack for your tempest

next will be ranger until 15 level, at 6th level ranger you get your tempest

your last level will be rogue to tak advantage of the mass skill point you will get

    starting stats
    str. 11...eat +1 tome.....12 str
    con.10...
    dex 19...eat +1 tome...20 dex...put all leveling stats in DEX...for end game DEX 36
    wis.15...eat +1 tome...16 wis
    int..11...eat +2 tome ...13 ....for combat EX
cha 8...eat +2 tome when every you can for 16CHA for UMD

end game you will have 300hp and a AC that only rolls of 20 can hit..the only must of the tomes at the start will be the int...you need at least a +1 and then a plus 2 before 13th level for combat ex

this build is very expensive and requires lots of raiding to build but fun to play

Question not to derail but I have a noobish question..

What are these tomes of which you speak? And how do you get them? Reason why I ask if I can get an int boost it would actually make the concept of a monk / rogue viable for me, or atleast let me get combat expertise so I can pick up whirlwind attack
There's a thin line between being a hero, and being a memory...

tomes will give u a stacking boost with items( +1 tome does not stack with a +2 tome thow) so lets say i get a +1 int tome it will move my int up by one and you can get them about an were
    +1s drop a modirite amount
+2s are a bit harder and need to do something like vail quests on hard or some of the new area quests (or get 1750 favor)
+3s dont hold me to this but only come from shroud 20th run and reaver (idk if they come on any other quests)
