Odd crashes in Shroud

I came back to the game 2 weeks ago. I have been having very weird crashes to BSOD. The weird thing is, I have only had them when playing my cleric and only in the Shroud. I have them very frequently when playing my cleric in the Shroud in all parts. None of my other characters experience these crashes. Nowhere else does my game crash when playing my cleric.

Anybody else have similar issues (I know it is a longshot question)?

Running Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Here is my dxdiag. One thing that interested me was the non-WHQL signed drivers. Those are the latest for 64 bit Vista from ATI and Creative Labs, though.

I know this wont be much help but I have a similar problem when playing my ranger.

For some reason I'll lag ten times more on him than any other character.
In the Shroud, for example, I can go in on my barb, right up on Harry, beating away...but on my ranger standing as far back as I can I sometimes cant even move.

My clerics fine, my sorcs fine, my barbs fine...but that ranger...*sigh*

Sorry, just wanted to say I believe Im experiencing something similar.

i have had the same problem, with more than one character. and it is very odd. I get the windows message "dndclient has experienced an error and must close", upon return to desktop. By the way I am running Windows XP

I had no problems before the last update. I have had crashes to desktop with my fighter, rogue, wizard and sorcerer. So far it hasn't affected the outcome of the quest, but I am not willing to take my cleric into there since the cleric's role in quest is so important, especially in parts 4 and 5.

I'll sneak into a Shroud run again tonight/tomorrow and see. It goes by pretty quick before it roboots, though. Are you interested in the message or the long numerical codes?

Same problem here. When ever I do the Shroud now, with any toon, my client crashes. This does not hapeen with any other quests. Also it started right after the last Mod.

Turbine, are you aware of this?

You want to disable the automatic reboot, then you can look at the blue screen at your leisure.

I think the Majority of the crashes lately can be attributed to Sounblaster and their dismal Driver support. I see your SB is using drivers From 07. I'd check Creative for more recent Drivers first. Even if they are Beta.

I would not quit go that far to blame Creative, I have had sound issues since mod 8 went live, But I believe most of those problems are coming from the Vista support that DDO has put into Mod 8

Vista does not use the same Sound Kernal as XP and as a result it makes most Direct 3d games have problems addapting to Vista. Its not Creative fault that Microsoft decided to get rid of Direct 3d support and hardware support in Vista.

I recently got the new Titianium X-fi card and since then I have had not sound issues with DDO, None period. I had tons of problems with my older Xp optimized X-fi Fatality after mod 8.

I continue to search for a Viable Alternative to Creative Products. If I can help it, I wont be putting any more of my hard earned money in their pockets.

The only thing daniel_k did wrong was ask for money, when he did that Creative Labs went after him, I was reading the post on the creative forums from day one. He could not legally ask for money for the drivers without first asking Creative Labs. The drivers in question mainly added support for stuff that was turned off with the vista drivers, it did nothing to improve game play issues. i would write more but go to go to work.....
