This is speculation on how I would have built Fleshchanter had I started him post-mod 9 as we know it. I am hoping that this build has room for Warchanter II and III if they add it but truth be told AP are probably awful tight so we will have to see what those look like when they are released.

Fleshchanter is a 15 brd/1 ftr but I have rearranged the level orders and added another fighter level before 16 to optimize feats/enhancements.

Skill points should of course go to UMD, other than that its up to you but I happen to favor stealth so I have a lot in move silent and hide I can self buff to 37 hide/36 move silent which is good enough for just about anything that can be sneaked by currently in game.

    Beginning stats:
    str 18
    dex 9
    con 15
    int 8
    wis 6
    chr 14

    Current stats unraged:
    str 30
    dex 15
    con 24
    int 9
    wis 6
    chr 24

    HP:348 unraged
    SP:743

Weapon: Get carnifex as soon as possible and use that until you have a min II greataxe.

    Gear @ level 16:
    Minos Legens
    Thrane's Goggles
    Seven Fingered Gloves
    Ring of Thelis
    Mummified Bat
Dragontouched Docent (Corrosive Salt Guard and Freezing Ice Guard ATM hoping to add GFL)
    Bard's Cloak
    Levik's Bracers
    Con +6 Belt
    GFL ring/Hide +15 ring
    Dex +6 boots/madstone boots/move silent +15 boots
Necklace of haggling +15(just got gloves to replace cartouche plan to make +45 hp greensteel necklace)

Enhancements I didn't mention that are important:
    Fighter/Racial Toughness
    Warforged Power Attack
Inspire Courage Damage/To Hit enahancements (and 2 tiers of the fear one for Warchanter)
    Lingering song (all levels)
    WF Constitution
Bard Charisma (I only have two tiers of this atm)

    Spells Memmed:
    Focused Chant
    Detect Secret Doors
    Greater Heroism
    Good Hope
    Blur
    Displacement
    Freedom of Movement
    Invisibility
    Haste
    Cure Critical Wounds

Please point out any errors so that I may correct them. Thank you.

BTW: Daemonis's Warforgedchanter build was the original inspiration for this build, so thank you Daemonis.

You need the two-handed fighting feats for the great weapon aptitude enhancements.

Beat me to it, Cow, thanks.

BTW have you ever made a mostly Bard WF?

Maybe not cause you might have to name it COWard.

unfortunately with blanket immunities given to everything in mod 8 and we can only guess mod 9, bards are being rendered useless and turbine should hang their head in shame. don't think you will see bards in too many groups unless some changes are made or you expect to be a buff bot.

ROFLMAO, you obviously haven't been grouping with any good warchanters.

Really? I could probably name half a dozen or so that I group with regularly on Argo.

There might be that many in total on Sarlona. At least, it seems that way of the ones I've grouped with. Most go Spellsinger.

so you are telling me that war chanter is the only bard out there, the other two were killed last mod and i would expect the same thing to happen to war chanter next mod. ddo is trying to move like 4.0 rules where there is no bard.

PS you haven't run with my war chanter

Actually when I am on my casters I love it when a spellsinger shows up but I'm not going to build my own anytime soon. A virtuoso is fine too as long as you are soloing or play with people that know how to deal with fascinated mobs, which does not define most pugs.

I'm leveling a similar build (full offensive THF warforged warchanter). Only at 1 Fighter / 4 Bard so far but I'll let you know how I like it. The build itself seems capable of very high damage output, but the thing that still gets me about Bards is the low hit point totals. Definitely have to play the 2nd line melee role with aggro management tactics in difficult quests.

FYI...this is my second melee focused bard. The other is a GTWF Human with around 350HP at level cap including 2 toughness feats (both from the 2 extra fighter levels), racial toughness enhancements, and shroud HP goggles. That doesn't feel like enough HP in cap content even with stoneskin, displacement, and the ironskin chant

One Bard will always have a place in groups, at least until dps no longer becomes desirable. They have the buff which adds the second most dps in the game(behind haste, which they can also cast!) and they can do decentish damage themselves.

Well, Fleshchanter has 348 unraged and I haven't gotten around to making a greensteel hp item yet (was going to earlier this week but well, you know. So with the hp item max hp with rage and double madstone is somewhere around 450.

Just hit level 9 last night (2 Fighter / 7 Bard). Like my other battle bard, I'm liking it so far except that I take a major *ss beating if I get aggro and can't kill it in one or two swings. I try not to be the first into battle anymore and the diplo button has been used more and more recently Displacement should help some as well.

One comment on the original build is that you can't take the Improved Critical feat as referenced at level 9 (BAB not high enough even with the 2 fighter levels). I took Force of Personality instead...may switch it out to SF: UMD later when I get closer to being able to use Reconstruct scrolls. Will take IC: Slashing at 12.

P.S. Sorry to a certain individual afk at the rest shrine in SC yesterday. I was pressured into using my Diplo skill for nefarious purpose
