Update: Rogue Solo Monastery of the Scorpion (Elite)

I managed to complete Elite on my first try, but had to re-enter thrice. First, when I bumped into a scorpion. Second, when I pulled the lever to unlock the tile puzzle. And third, when I bumped into another scorpion (they move fast, and seem to have a larger "sensing" radius than their size would lead one to believe).

I was able to get the shrine chest and the girder chest in the anti-gravity room. Though getting to the shrine was harder than I expected, as my spot (36 with GH and +13 item, but no WIS item) was not enough to get trap-sense warnings. That meant having to walk a few paces, search, walk a few, search etc. in critical areas (shrine corridor, archways, etc.). I also had to be careful as I was unable to detect the hidden scorpions once my GH wore off. Thankfully I was close to a safe area and was able to move and re-cast. It looks like I'll need to get a WIS item from my bank toon if I want to do it again.

My previous time for normal was 45 minutes, so I was pretty pleased with this finish time. Here's my screenshot:

congrats Shiz! Inspired by your achievement I tried it too. I can do the upper level ok but cannot get the switch in the next level down. There are about 8 drow standing around that switch. Are you summoning something to distract them?

Well... you'll notice I had to re-enter three times. Two were scorpion bumps that generated more aggro than I could handle. The other was after pulling that switch. I have since been able to pull the switch and not have to re-enter after...

I tried summoning, drawing them out with throwing weapons, etc. I've only found two methods that work.

First, if the switch room is in an area with few roaming mobs. Body pull one at a time, kill, heal. This is very hard for me to pull off, so I don't bother. It is faster to just die and re-enter. Unless you are going for 0 re-entries.

Second, which is the method I usually use: pull the switch. Cast all defensive buffs you have on yourself. Displacement, uncanny dodge, stoneskin, whatever you got. Run a bit then go into sneak (so as not to attract more scorpions, other guys) and bee line for the puzzle. Solve the puzzle enough to get the blue-barrier down while getting your butt handed to you. Die. Drop down and res with no aggro. Come back up and finish the puzzle. This method works best if the switch is FAR from the puzzle and you have faster sneaking. In some cases, if you sneak far enough away the drow will stop looking for you, but the scorpions never seem to give up.

If you are on some morning (or while I'm off this week, some late night), I'll be happy to run it with you. I imagine you probably have some tricks I haven't thought of.

Did 16 minutes recently. No re-entries, no kills (excluding the 1 for solving the puzzle). Forgot to scroll up to top and show 'elite', but it does say quest level 19 (Elite).
