Your odds are actually probably a lot worse than shown here since the rate of fall of certain rune effects is probably much lower than others. Freeze or Greater Spell Pen VIII for example probably have a much lower drop rate than 3.3%.

Meanwhile what do you do with all the dozens of elderich and tempest runes you collect waiting to hit the lottery on the tier III? Of course you can give away your reward, but how long till you just stop running the quest? The game developers have in essence put in place a self destruct mechanism in Mod 8. Over time, the incentives are to not play it.

This system was extremely poorly thought out and designed. The folks making the decision were poorly informed, negligent, or just plain didn't care.

    Default Is it Crafting

    No its not.

All arguments aside on % chances it is not crafting like Shroud.

    It is pure Gambling.

In Shroud yes the ingredients you get are random from the chest but you can swap with people - then its craft what you are after.

In the new system there is no Crafting as such just a silly gamble each time you get a Rune.

No no its not crafting and I wish people would stop calling it that.

It is Gambling with the aim the get the 3 you want.

I pretty much think the 'gambling' for what you want is pretty lame... while some of the quests in this mod are fun, the end reward of the armor is just a complete and utter let-down.

I do find myself having a hard time being overly interested in the Mod 8 stuff. I mean I have a plan for what I want on my Fighter's Armor and I even have tier 2 right... but flagging and what not just brings me down a lot. I think the Flagging makes me feel like I'm trapped into it too much and annoys me. Eventually I'll have to do it I know. However I'm 4 Large ingrediants from my first Shroud item. (and 19 Larges from my first Shroud Weapon) I'm doing the Item first to make room for other things.

I suppose if we could exchange the Runes then it would be more popular. I also suppose that if they were at least broken down a little (say a group for Stat increases a Group for Protections like Resistances and Resistance etc maybe an offensicve group...) SOmething to know we are on the right track for our desired effect... then maybe that would feel a little better.

Atill for me it comes down to the Flagging Mechanic. Its a real turn off. I don't run VoN or DQ because of it and it seems to affect this content as well.

    Default Gamblers Anon.

I have to agree , the random rune rolling/grinding for 100's of hour's is NOT crafting.

A simple way for the developers to bring it more on track would be to display the rune effect on the rune in the chest. That way people in the grp can swap runes between themselves. And at least lower the grind time.

If mod 6 was beta crafting , what is mod 8 ? What is planned for the final crafting system? hmm.... maybe grinding shroud and going to the reavers casino is just going to turn out to be a waste of time.

Default risking a good outcome for a better one

I'm sure most have already figured this out, but it probably should be stated in the OP:

If you get a halfway desireable outcome on one level of rune, and you are uncertain whether to risk losing it by trying for something nicer, you can buy a second (or third or fourth) DT armor and continue your efforts on that one.

(Also, you can put the alchemical armor ritual on your DT armor)

The only problem is that the tooltip description for each one is identical: "dragontouched armor", so you have to remember where you put each one on your hotbar.

    Default All things equal?

These stats assume that all runes have an equal chance to drop...

With the number of times ive recieved improved resonace 8, glaciation 8 or combustion 7... combined with the fact that ive never seen glacial assult, +3 dodge, or tharnes wrath... leads me to believe that this rediculously difficult to win game of dice is rigged .......on top of those terrible odds

IMO it would it imporve the system if, once you put the DT armor and rune in the altar and committed to use the rune, you got a dialog telling you what the rune would add.

If you did not want to change to the new enhancement, you had the option to cancel the upgrade, losing the rune (but keeping the current DT armor enhancements) or continuing with the upgrade.

This way it would you could still try for the best enhancement, without undoing what you had already achieved.

I agree. My experience indicates that the runes are not dropped equally. And given that neither is regular raid loot this should not be discounted.

This would be a great improvement.

I find it very hard to understand that in the crafting process, these powerful magic users of the Twelve can't figure out what the rune is before you "craft."

I am sure that all their instructors when learning those powerful magics taught them to mix powerful magics with no idea as to the results.

The stupidest thing about the whole stupid random "crafting" as implemented is that there is no option to decline the new upgrade, or check the rune before adding. You end up going from moderately useful to useless. Gotta say... it ****es me off.

    Question Has the odds

In light with the new release of Mod 9, has these percentages changed?

Kind of... There's 1 extra effect per tier (Incite). And now you can trade your unused E and T runes for tier above, which is pretty cool (Monastery is 2 E runes in under 20 mins, so you can get a S rune in 90 mins solo, which is much faster than running 4 quests with a group).
