Didn't really see a thread on hirelings so here goes.
I had a bit of a rough patch with a very unhelpful cleric. The other night I decided to try and solo Prison of the Planes (POP) with my ranger and since I never have any luck using the doors without another person in there I decided to get myself a hireling. I figured that a cleric with a bit of healing couldn't hurt so I hired myself a 16 lvl cleric by the name of Isadora "Something". Well she did a good job of staying put when I told her to and to heal when I forced her to and all that, I had no problems with her as long as I was controlling her actions, she is quite the psycho minx when left to her own devices.
Anyhow we cleared all the halls, and did the Undead warden then I dropped down and got the energy orb and I decided to try it out first on the Lawful room, so I placed the orb in the slot and told her to stand her ground next to the switch, which she did beautifully. Then I targeted the switch and went inside the room then I click the interact with button and she went over to the switch and just stood there. She said OK anything you want honey, or something like that she is rather accomodating when asked to do something. Anyhow no matter which door throughout POP and no matter what condition I put her in (i.e. Active or Passive, Follow or Stand Ground) she would go up to the switch and just stand there she was never able to throw the switch.
So being the generous benefactor and employer that I am, I decided to see how well those combat skills she has been learning have worked out for her. So I put her in the Marut room, flipped the switch and watch her get obliterated, I then proceeded to each room, placed the orb in the slot and watch her again get her rear handed to her in the Ice Room, the Fire Room, Air room, DQ Room, Vamp Room, and the Beholder Room. She died many glorious deaths in there, but she was a trooper, she accepted every raise and when I ran out she used the rez shrine every time then healed herself not only with pots but with mana as well. Anyhow alas she was a brave soul that went down in flames, repeatedly.
My question, can we get a little better on the non standard switches like those in POP?
Thanks for listening.
