Default Client hangs on initial load for Vista Home Prem 64bit

I just installed DDO on an HP pavilion PC running Windows Vista Home Prem SP1 64bit. After the initial setup, it asks to launch the DDO client to connect to the server for first time. Initial launch screen with red dragon breathing fire goes through a bunch of scripts and when it reaches "Getting alerts and news" it just hangs there and does nothing. I turned off Windows firewall, Defender and Anti-Virus and it still hangs at this point. My DDO exclusion on router is fine because I play DDO on other computers on network. Is there a different digital download setup DVD for 64bit Vista? The install DVD that I am using was from a digital download that I made 2 years ago, 4/06 directly from Turbine site. The PC itself works fine in all other regards. I can play DDO fine on my other custom built PC running Windows XP Home Ed SP3. Maybe it's just a 64bit ver Vista bug. Who knows.

I run Vista Ultimate 64 sp1. The only problem I have is it frequently crashes when it's supposed to load the animated Turbine Logo. Sometimes I have to try 4-5 times, the other night it took around 10 tries before the client ran properly.

I posted a dxdiag log in my other thread to see if I can get some help...

it should work just fine, just make sure that you are an admin with uac off (NOT THE recommended way to do it) or non admin account with uac on. You should not disable your av/firewall just add exceptions for the game.

I returned the HP Media Center Vista PC back to Best Buy, argued with the manager about 15 mins on their proposed restocking fee and eventually aggravated him enough to get me a full refund. I then bought an Intel Core 2 Duo quad core barebones kit from TigerDirect.com for a lot less money on one of their unadvertised specials and built my own system. I installed Windows XP Home Ed on it and now it works just fine.
