Now explain da kine.

I have had at least 10 locals explain and read both of the Pigeon books and I just don't get it.

To put it simply...
"da kine" is used when you can't think of the word to use to explain something...

How we say "ummm" when we can't quite think of the word.
Let say I was trying to talk about you to someone, but I couldn't remember your name.

"You goin group wit dat girl?? Da kine...she da one who only do dat Tempest Spine quest..."

OR if I forgot the name of the spell I was trying to talk about.

"You know dat spell?? Da kine dat make da big fingah on top deir heads?"

Sheesh, you made me think of how to use it in a sentence. Trying to make all the words pidgin. That was tough. I used "girl" instead of "tita" because I don't think you quite fit the description.

Although I don't have the accent anymore, when I do visit or talk to some friends and relatives on the phone, after 5 minutes of conversation, it comes back.

So many words...and like I said, it is just slang!
And as far as directions...we are used to just giving them out like, Turn here, make a left there at the corner store where the shave ice is...etc...The place is across the street where the Manapua man parks...
I don't know, that's just the way we give out directions.
