[EDIT] I've found older posts, stating that no one knows why the servers are closed to trial accounts or when they will be back up.
I'd delete this post, but I can't so maybe someone new will come along with a timeframe or explanation for trial accounts.
It seems to be just bad timing - to try out a game when it is going through large updates.

very bad first impression
I just got a trial account today and all of this "servers closed to trial accounts" is a very bad first impression. I'm not a happy camper as my trial ends 11-15 and they don't even know when I might be able to log in at all.
