people play this game for differant reasons some play for the gear others play for the social aspect still others play for the role playing aspest, you have perma death players and static group players. just because you dont play for the gear dont come down on someone who does.

Why? Well I ask you this why strive for mediocraty at best or **** poor at worst? I'm pretty sure everyone who plays this game wants to have good characters even hardcore rp'ers and permadeather's put thought into their builds (possibly even more than powergamers, just with different focus). If your going to do something why not do it well? Another reason is if you have dominated the content and still want to enjoy playing then more than likely you will attempt to get gear/reroll or make new characters that excel. I dont think of my characters as "uber" I think of them as geared and soundly built enough to try and keep up with my friends who are waaaaay more uber than I. Always striving to be better because I get satisfaction from doing the best I can regardless of whether its a videogame, rec volleyball, or my job.
