Default USB Headset does not work Post Mod 8

I have a Logitech USB headset, and while all other sounds on my machine are transmitted to the headset, DDO only transmits through the regular speakers. I've changed the Voice Playback and Voice Capture devices, as I've done 1000 times, but no sound to the USB headset. This has changed since Mod 8. Anyone encountered this and found a fix?

Edit: I'm not hearing any voices since Mod 8 either.

I know my USB headset has been a lot pickier ever since Mod 8 came out. My usual technique is to start up DDO with the headset unplugged. Once I'm logged in, I plug in the headset and give it a minute for everything to update. About 50% of the time it will show up under DDO's Audio tabs at that point. If not, I'll repeat a few times until it does. Occasionally, I'll have to restart DDO entirely to get it to show up. Once it shows up, I can usually select it for everything and it will work fine. Sometimes I have to repeat the entire process 2-3 times though, so it is always a roll of the dice.

That's always good. I get jealous when they talk to other people instead of just to me

    I'm seeing the same thing...sorta.

If I start up DDO and my USB Logitech headphones are NOT plugged in, the sound functions fine through the speakers. If I then plug in my headphones, I still hear the sounds through the speakers. However, I can then go to the audio tab and change the voice capture and voice playback to the headphones.

After doing that, I hear voice through headphones and sounds through speakers. Not good.

Going to the audio tab doesn't help because the headphones do NOT show up as a sound device. I have two options in that drop-down: hardware soundcard and software soundcard.

I have to completely restart DDO with the headphones plugged in to get sound and voice in the headphones.

I found a solution. Reset all options to Default. Cured all audio issues.

I have the same headset and had the same problem.

Tech support gave me this advice, find the DDO folder in My Documents. In that folder find the personal settings file *.ini (can't remember the exact name). Rename or delete that file and relaunch DDO.

This worked perfectly for me, hope it works for you as well.

I think the root of all this confusion is that the audio settings allow you to choose the device for voice chat, only.

Sound FX seem to always go to the default sound device as per your control panel\sounds and audio devices\Audio Tab\Sound Playback\Default Device.

I personally always plug my logitech USB headphones in before launching game.

That is my experience at least... hope it helps

Actually, you can choose other devices from the options on the character selection screen. Why it's not on both is beyond me. So, if you select your USB headset before logging your character into the world you'll have all sound going through your USB headset.

I see this very same thing, though I have not yet tried starting the game after the headset is plugged in. This work-around doesn't really do what I need it to because my headset is not the best (they hurt after some time) so I don't use them unless I am currently in a party.

I will try the reset to default and see if that helps.

I have the same complaint. I only wear my headphones when in a group so I like being able to change back nd fort. Did resetting help?

Revert to default did not help (but it did wipe out my keybinds - GAH!).

I tried starting the game after having the USB headset already plugged in - this worked (in part). What it did was provide that extra choice in the audio options to allow me to have the game sounds sent to my chosen destination. If I did not start the game with the USB headset already plugged in, then my headset was not on the list of choices for game sound (but it was on the list for voice). If I then unplugged and set and plugged it back in, I lost my choice and could not get game sounds to go to the headset.

I was looking for a way to send an email to game support, but I could not find a way to do this on the DDO web page. (The 'support' tab leads to a so-called knowledge base, that did not provide anything useful.) Is there no way to do this in this game!? How the heck do we get official support?

    Default No sound

I have a Logitech headset/mic combo with standard plugs. The voice capture and voice playback are fine (both recognized as SoundMAX HD Audio). The problem I am having is no game sound. I get no ambient noise, music or DM voice, and the sound playback field says "none". When I try the drop down for the field my sound card is not appearing there.

I have an Asus Crosshair mother board with a SupremeFX audio card (came stock with the mb).

    Any thoughts?

the logitech usb headset with mic has its own sound device (at least the ones i've seen) so your onboard won't really have an effect on it, ingame you need to make sure all the drop downs are configured correctly and as others have said plugging it in after you start the game if you want specific differentation in which device the game sounds come out of
