Without a price range, then I recommend a Nvidia GTX260 core216, 270.00 and a very good card.

What is your price range? Something like this works for me.
Nvidia 9600 gt 512mb for about $110. $80 after rebate. (About $140 at Best Buy)

Also, remember that you need Vista.

the 8800 GT was the best card in the shop, it is DX 10 ready, hope it does the trick

I have the 8800 GT in my system, it's a very good card for the money.
HD3870 is nice and cheap.. but.. never buy a card at a "shop" online they are usually cheaper..
Personally, i avoid nvidia at all costs, the 8800 and up series have flawed gpu's and high failure rates.
I build these things(gaming rigs) for people as a part time job..and see alot of issues currently with the 8800 and up nvidia cards.

I got a 8500 and it works great bout $100 Canadian. 8800 should be that much better.

the DX10 graphics look good but I am crawling with sinfge digit fps in the shroud on ultra high :O(. My RAD 1950XTX was better, though was not DX10 before the SOAB overheated!!
thanks for advise so far but pls help, money is not an issue , I will pay 500-600 to get an ultra high performing card for my 24". And a tip as to where to get the best deal - online someone said? Yeah the shop ripped me off $260 for that 8800GT.
thanks folks.
