Default Text size for large screens... TOO BIG

With mod 8, the text size for names, guild names, NPC names, floating text, and floating damage numbers increased dramatically for large monitors.

    Here is a side-by-side comparison:

(source Images:pre-mod 8, post-mod 8 - note that your browser will resize the images to fit your screen, you need to zoom in to see it at a pixel-to-pixel level)

I can't seem to find any setting to change this. I thought "FloatyTextRatio" in userpreferences.ini would help, no such luck.

    Turbine! Please fix this!

    Yes it looks terrible.

Yea I agree. I play at the highest resolution and the text doesn't seem to scale correctly. Also running DX10 ... Not sure if that matters or not.

Does it with DX10 on and off (pic is with DX10 disabled).

In the full-size screenie, the floating text above the NPC is as big or bigger than most people's monitors!

not sure if this has anything to do with it or not but it seems as though I cannot 'zoom out' as far as before? maybe this has relevance?

I think - I'm not sure, but I think - that this is an optical illusion based on the text size change.

You'll note that zooming in and out increases/decreases the floaty text size now. Not sure if it did it before, or if it is just more noticible now that the text size is huge.

Either way, I noticed the same feeling. The font size difference made me feel like I was zoomed in much further than I really was.

Turbine, please fix this! No one asked for this change, it was fine the way it was!!!

set your aspect ratio correct. mine was like that too last night. I adjusted the ratio to fit my widescreen and all was well.

No dice, tried all of the settings (even the ones I knew were wrong), problem still exists.

    Blasphemy!

Besides... it used to be fine, something changed on DDO's end (appears to be with the scaling of names at a distance).

No updates, CDG, other than it's driving me nuts not knowing who is where (since I have to have names off) and it's also driving me nuts anytime I hit anything or talk to anyone

Also, noticed this on Risia, the tips are huge. Like when you start a new character the ! boxes and text that pops our are huge. I guess submit a bug report and hope for the best.

I also am having numerous issues with the text. One that is currently driving me a little crazy is the names of vendors in the Rusty nail. They disappear in the wall. I start up the game and I can't see most the names because if you are not looking head on the name disappears into the wall. I am also running DX10 if that matters (and I have a LARGE monitor )

    Default Same here

Same problem here...I am not using DX10 and have a large monitor. Names are huge, hints take up most of the screen, but on a good note it is much easier to see my damage numbers for dps calculations. With the balloon text it just feels too cartoony for me.

At least I'm not alone. That's some consolation!
