Connection failed: There was an error with this connection

Any ideas as to what might cause this to happen, and what one might do to fix it?

If you just tried to connect, the servers are down for a restart.

Yeah, I saw that, but I couldn't load in before the servers were brought down. I could select a server, but as soon as I hit the first load screen...boom, error message, and the game shut down.

They block all new log ins roughly 15 minutes before a worl shut down.

That might be it, I'll have to check it again in an hour I suppose, assuming the servers restart on schedule. Thanks

It looks like the servers are back up from their restart, and I still get the same error message. It apparently wasn't the server restart.

then at that 3rd phase in the updater it says

HTP Error 404: Whatever not found

i dont get it...tried after the restart

Thanks for your reply Mic, but that's not the issue I'm having. My client's fully updated, but I simply cannot connect to any server.

Had same issue, after hotfix, login to server, esc through first then second load screen, get connection error and client closes, did this twice, third time I let let it go through movie then load screen and connected fine. Closed client, restarted, all ok now.

Thanks for your response Nuxwan. Unfortunately, your method of watching the entire didn't do anything for me, other than letting me watch the fairly cool DDO intro movie. Still can't get into the game, even after the hotfix.

Hah, nevermind, I'm and idiot and forgot that I'd put in a new firewall since the last update and changed the exemptoins in my old, inactive, firewall.

Hopefully my idocy can help someone else who might be having the same problem.
