    Default Greensteel

I'm sure this has been covered once or twice in former threads, but I haven't been able to find the exact advice I'm looking for...

Crafting MinII for my human ftr2 barb14 greater 2-weapon fighter...

As of right now, I typically use 2x rapiers or 2x scimitars for whatever the situation calls for, but switch to a greataxe ( usually a +5 transmuting greataxe of maiming or something else appropriate ) for red/purple names.

My question(s)-- is it worth the extra 20 or so shroud runs for 2x MinIIs or should I just go ahead and make a greataxe?
If I were to wait awhile and make 2 weapons, what would you all recommend? I understand that khopeshes are leaders, but I was considering heavy picks as well (I don't have khopesh proficiency).

Thanks, and any input would be appreciated.

If you are spec'd for 2 weapon fighting bite the bullet and make two.

Thanks for the input Philo. I think I just needed someone else to tell me what to do / what I already suspected. I was really just being a bit indecisive and couldn't pull the trigger.

On the other note, I was considering going khopesh. I don't have the proficiency, but with a near max strength on a human barb, will the -4 non-proficiency penalty really matter? I generally don't miss anything (besides rolling a 1) at the moment.

My backup for that would be heavy picks, which I've read are not far behind khopeshes (dps-wise).

I plan on crafting over the weekend, so if anyone else has any advice/recommendations, again, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

I'd say heavy pick unless you plan to pick khopesh at L18. The only real difference is pick is 1d8 and khopesh 1d10, if I'm not mistaken, so you're not losing too much. The -4 penalty may not really matter now but we don't know what's coming for us, and if you can hit stuff so easily you may want to invest in more PA enhancements too, you can get +1 dmg for just -1 to-hit instead of -4

I say heavy picks...especially if you are piercing spec

    Improved Crit: Pierce
    Crit Rage 1&2
you are looking at a 15-20x4 crit per hand

On my barb that is about 1 out of 4 swings critting for about 140 each plus the additive damage from blasts, bursts, acid, etc.

Heavy Picks will only crit on a 17-20 for a barbarian. They start at a crit range of 20, 19-20 for Improved crit, keen does not stack, and 2 more for Crit Rage 1 & 2 gets you to 17-20. Now, this is for x4 damage. The khopesh will crit for the same barbarian on 13-20 but for only x2 damage.

All things being equal, I went for heavy picks on my barbarian.

Barb crits on picks are actually 17-20, but still a solid dps option with the *4 multiplier.

    Pick=20*4
    Improbved crit(or mineral 2 keen)=19-20*4
    Crit rage+improved crit/keen=17-20*4

Actually, the khopesh will crit on a 15-20 (Originally 19-20, goes to 17-20 w/ keen or imp. crit, and add 2 for crit rage 2 for 15-20), and for x3 damage. The stats you posted were for scimitars.

You beat me to it, but Khopesh is 15-20*3.

If you're short on larges, you could make the offhand pick an earth/earth/earth (12 larges) for the autocrit earthgrab affect, which procs pretty often and would yield pretty sick damage for a barbarian. Not quite as good on current red named, though.
