Hope the upgrade eventually works, but Turbine really needs to work on notification / PR. Look at the time stamp on the pre-downtime notice by Tolero it is 2.47 am 22nd Oct 2008 i.e. 13 mins before the 3 am start of downtime.
Little bit of "ohh they will know it is down when they cannot log on " was it or was it a case of " we originised the hardware delivery and the people to install it and extra staff on duty and the day we are doing it, but I cannot help thinking we forgot something important ? ohh **** we forgot to tell our customers !! quick put a message up before we pull the plug "

My old boss got me saying that.. and guys if you would follow the official thread instead of making 8,321 bellyaching threads you would see that they are keeping us posted. They ran into 2 issues that was keeping them from coming online and they fixed one..

and to all the 'IT Professionals' out there whinging about how it shouldn't take this long.. I know many of you would say otherwise but there is NOTHING mission critical about these servers, its a freaking game for hecks sake.

It is kind of annoying, but I think they assume you know its down if you cant connect and if they are focusing all their resources on this I doubt they'd have time to say "WAIT! lets give them an update" only to have it forward another hour

I don’t do games i do financial IT infrastructure $%#$%# (Network engineering) ...
That’s why i need my daily dosage of games ! and before the wife gets home and start to ***** .

Now see this is what I think is interesting, e3verytime things like this happen with a GAME, and a niche one at that..... I see all kinds of IT peeps strollign in saying how they could do better and where they work....... But usually where they work involves jsut waht you said "Financial Systems" "Utilities" ect..... Systems that have redundancies built in, sytems people count on for their live (IE: Elec) systems that move 10's, 100's of millions or even billions of dollars. That's NOT this system, you can't exepct it too work in such a way, you can't expect them to spend in such a way. This is a game, run by a privately owned comany, the resources are limited, people are not going to possibly die due to an outage, nor will there be somekind of spiral effect on the world due to a financial systems outage......

Most of the complaints are people jumping on for 1 min, not bothering to check the Dev tracker to see what's been said and just go off on a little rant. OR by people with bizarre misplaced expectations or what we're really talking about here .....
