I tried this on Risia last night and if I hadn't only been a level 1 barb I would have dismissed rage as soon as the effect ended just so I could rage again to see it. I was a warforged of course so I didn't have the heartbeat but I found it unobtrusive and I think that the effect would be great to help identify when rage has finished and I need to re-rage. Obviously this effect is causing some problems for other players but I fail to see why those of us who would love to have it should be punished for those who dislike it. I might even roll a live barbarian again just for the effect.
Ok, maybe a bit trollish but true opinion nonetheless.

Please add checkbox to enable new rage effect to stay active for duration of rage

I would be fine with that checkbox if I can have one that turns the effect off completely. But I'm guessing that's a lot of work to do.
