Best way to do this: Expeditious Retreat, Shield, Hypnotism. Sleep if you are a wizard and have an extra level 1 slot to spare.

Non-caster second-best option: Send the pali who (should) have solid saves.

Third-best option: Kill them all, except the prophets, and go for conquest

Worst-option: Actually Use Stealth. Although arguably more fun, the time and effort required to pull off vs the reward are very bad when compared to the above options. This quest offers great xp vs time ratio.. if you can complete it under 2 minutes.

I really wish that the devs would implement a special reward for actually not being seen until you pick up the object in question, sort of like an Uber Stealth: 40% exp bonus
Devs: Thanks for making Druids available to VIPs without the pack. This more than anything, has made me want to buy the pack.

Also, make sure you open doors while standing to the side of them, not in front of them.
Yeah, ranged projectiles are great at distracting an enemy. Unfortunately, a ranged attack will also unstealth a character. So I don't know if that's really the best strategy for getting past doors and levers guarded by an alert character. (I suppose that's why you classified it as an advanced technique though.)

Unfortunately, the best way to do this quest is to turtle up and run through it.
Best with a group actually, someone can distract the kobolds while some one else throws the levers.

Stealth does work, but it is so unforgiving if you make a mistake.

I recently stealthed through it with my Rog13. It was overkill actually.
But I ran into a named Witch Doctor right near the last lever.
I decided to assasinate him when no one else was looking at me.

    It didn't matter.
They knew I did it and came looking for me.
And after I dispatched the first two who came to attack me, I thought I was in the clear......NO.
Everyone from the other side of the wall alread knew exactly where I was and came to attack me. Not really a problem at my lvl, but very disappointing.

I could have probably gotten the lever without taking on the Witch Doctor. But he was standing very near it and I think he would have seen me when I threw the lever.

If I had had scrolls I could have summoned a pet.
Or used the make noise trick to move him I guess.

But I thought I could get away with an assassination when his friends' backs were turned.
Very disappointed that this did not work.

One other thing....the tricks and techniques you can master here, will work all the way up thru higher order quests too (just with higher DC benchmarks of course...)

Another good place to practice moving near near things with very good spot skill are the little giant caves in threnal, especially now with fewer effective mushrooms...Giants have among the highest Spot Skills in the game (especially Fire Giant Champions)....

Apparently when this quest was first made you would fail if you were SEEN (according to one of the devs, Eladrin I think). I wasn't around for that, but it must have made this quest a "get 5 guys to sit at the door while the rogue does it" snorefest.

I am greatly disappointed in the Stealth/Hiding in DDO. If you shoot from cover and instantly hide and move, enemies know exactly where you are no matter what you do.

IE - shooting from atop a cliff, behind a crystal in GH - hit one Ogre - go back into hide and sneak around another few crystals away - all the mobs in the area run around the hill, becoming totally blocked from sight and loosing sight of you, up the hill and still know exactly where you are without hesitation of any kind.

Shoot a magic missile from around a corner, run to next room and cast invisibility - still zero in on you with no hesitation.

    Its BS.

If an enemy looses line of sight and you do something to Hide in any way, they should not be able to still detect you without error.
It is not about the destination, it is about the journey.

We sat at the front while our level 10 ranger escort completed the thing first time I ran it. Cap was 10 back then too. It was the common way to do it for awhile. ( Then we would go in an massacre everything after he picked it up..)

Turn invisible, then hide while moving away. It works.

Hrm, I am not sure I remember that, but I do recall that we all had to wait at the entrance while the only stealthy one did it. But I prefer my solution, say an extra super juicy 2000 exp reward for not being seen at all, perhaps in the form of an optional objective, that would make it worth at least trying.

I can't be certain if I'm remembering it correctly, but I sure remember the bonus being close to +20% for no kills upon completion. ( was mid part of 2006...cannot remember...)

edit: when did Velah come out? was close to that time..
