Whats the date on the driver? Nvidia released a new driver last week.
right now its the new one, unless it automatically updated it on the 15th, which is the date of the new one they just released, it was an older one, im am going to see if i cant find the previous one on their website, because i couldnt roll back the driver, the files were not saved

That last post i typed made no sense, but regardless here is an update"
-DDO runs fine with the onboard videocard which is a nvidia 6150 LE or something like that
-I can get the computer to a point where it will run with the nvidia 7900 card fine. But when i try and start DDO and Windows Media Center, which are the only two programs i have found that crashes it so far, the screen begins to artifact and eventually crashes, sometimes it will stay up and running and just go from black screen to desktop thats artifacted, but usually it just keeps restarting.
-the following may have something to do with it, im not sure, but in the last month my computer has crashed about 6 times from a critical system error, and if im not mistaken i think another one of those happened during this whole debacle
-i would say its the hardware for sure and not the drivers, but nvidia just released new drivers and i was able to get into DDO and media center a couple of days ago, the first time this has done it was saturday afternoon
-even weirder, when i try and download an older version of the drivers, once it begins the downloading process, it pops up a window with the repeated nvidia log as a background........a box pops up and says it cant find any drivers that are compatible with my hardware, so basically the only driver i am able to download is the newest one
So anyone have a clue ?

Can you get into your system logs? There may be a critical conflict that is in noway related to DDO, yet is affecting how your video card is interacting with your system. And as previously stated, you may have a bunk card. You may want to go to your local shop and pick up a cheapie to test it against.
Yes and no, the onboard video would work off of the built in components of the PC, completely bypassing the AGP or PCIe slots and processing. The cheapie vid card would require the system to use the same component pathing as the vid card in question, thus exposing any conflicts or defects in between, such as a possible worn out AGP/PCIe slot...

i did a couple of things involving reinstalling drivers and stuff, the first try it crashed but right now I am currently on the 7900, i can get into DDO and it doesnt crash it, i can get into windows media center and it doesnt crash it, its the weirdest thing........can it still be the video card and its just temporarily working ?? the temperature runs at 140 to 150F idle 150 to 165F gaming, <<that good or ........and should i make sure i keep my PC off as much as possible to prolong the life of the card ??? or maybe throw a fan on it ??
One difference i notice is that it says the driver date is 10/7/2008, im assuming its not the newest one, the release date for the newest from Nvidia is 10/15/08

its not the videocard itself,
get a program called Driver sweeper before doing the next step
go into safe mode at start up and unistall videocard in the control panel and when it ask to delete driver too do so.
Start driver sweeper and remove the drivers for display. Restart computer
At start up install the drivers for the videocard.
Or what you could try a System Restore to prior problems.

maybe i wasnt specific in the last post, "It is working now", i do not know that exact combination of things i did but it runs fine now and i can get into DDO and everything, was just wandering if the driver could still be bad atm and its just temporarily working

I read that the 7900 requires minimum 330 watt power supply, my power supply is 300 watt. Could this be the the cause of why its crashing ??....I got it back to ok, lasted for about 4 days, then it just crashed on me last night. If the power supple is the cause, then why is it only causing a problem after 2 years, why didnt it cause a problem when i first installed it?

It requires the 330 for running at top end. It'll run at lower end without issue, but if you start running higher end games or up the settings of your current games, the power needed won't be there.
All machines degrade overtime. Just because they have very few moving parts, doesn't mean that you can expect your computer to run the same after 2 years as in the day you bought it. If this wasn't the case, every computer you buy would come with a "Lifetime limited warranty".
Also, this isn't a commonly know fact but computer power supplies degrade probably the fastest of any part in a computer. Your 300W PS is probably only putting out 250-280 at this point. If you have the technical knowledge and a multimeter, you can test the "rails" that your PS is outputting to see that they are up to spec (assuming you still have the specs ). Or, have your local computer store test it for you, but I'd guess that you've found your problem.
New powersupply is probably your best bet. Once again, any competant computer store and/or 10yo neighbor will have one laying around that they can test this for you with.
ive pretty much always ran it with the graphics maxed out through DDO, ddo is the only game i play sooooo.....anyone know of a sensor to check and see if i am maxing out my wattage ?? and also, does anyone know if the Direct X10 is maybe not supported by my video card ?

Not sure on the program but your card does not support dx10 -
well actually nvm i dont have Direct X10 since i dont have vista, so i guess that doesnt play a role.

I talked to Nvidia on the phone, they want me to try it in another computer first, but i have no one near me whom I know to try that, so i am stuck asking some questions before i go spending some money
If it is the power supply...300 watt max....(bought two years ago, i keep it on pretty much all the time so its probably down to 250) and since my card requires 350 minimum......whats the explanation for the graphics to start artifacting when i reboot. Since im rebooted and I am no longer in DDO (which is what causes it to crash....assuming because it starts drawing the power from the supply) it shouldnt still be messing up right ?? it should go back to normal until i overload it again...??? is it somehow still drawing to much after a reboot.....is this why when i take it out....reboot with onboard.....the shut down reinstall the 7900 GS....then reboot back up it stays normal for a while (until it draws to much power i guess), another clue is that normally when it crashes, the computer doesnt fully shutdown, it goes into something similiar to standby, yet it wont comeback to windows until i do a cold rebooot....hinting that the computer does this as a safety feature when the power supply overloads...???
