    Default Darkvision/Lowlight vision

I propose with the advent of DX 10 they also add in Darkvision and Lowlight Vision. We have a quest "Rainbow in the Dark" that makes you carry around a torch. I love this concept because I play humans and other races alike as I am sure most of us do. This quest makes a great dungeon crawl with the exception that races that do not need torches to see in the dark are as hampered as those that do. Why dont we take our spiffy new graphics driver and try to make more quests like the one I used as an example. Yet make it closer to PnP on the vision.

I am sure this wont go over well because rules take a backseat to fun but to some it would be fun. Myself included.

Well i think it's a nice overall idea. But, this should be implemented as an "option", just like to Voice Chat wich you have to turn on to enable. It would be more democratic, as some players may dislike the darkvision pnp concept.

The problem with this is the same problem we've seen in Rainbow in the Dark. People aren't interested in doing things that require more work. So, if there was a requirement of torches for humans and races without inherant vision to be able to see, we'd see groups that wouldn't allow humans in their quests. And a big jump in the number of people not playing human characters. And people using gamma correction instead of torches in order to be able to see.

Humans would be called "gimped" and there'd be a ton of people complaining about it. I just don't think its works in MMO-land.

i think i read somewhere that rainbow in the dark will require all players to be near the light or not be able to see at all. ie no frudging graphics. anyone else see this anywhere?

Not a lot of work involved to overcome the darkvision thing. It's a P&P spell that would be 1 min/level in DDO. (It lasts like 1 hr per level in P&P)
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.
