I just checked out one of the high level hirelings in Meridia. AWESOME. A level 14 WF wizard with AI superior to a standard pug wizzy. I was very happy to see him kill stuff on his own while I just chilled and watched the action. Crowd control, insta-death, self-sufficient (didnt even need to heal him he casted reconstruction on himself when needed to) the whole deal.

Ill be back into Argo as soon as mod8 goes live. This is good stuff !!!

Also checked out some of the new outdoor high level instances and got my butt kicked swiftly Came in late and couldnt party with Arko and Gol but at least I saw him get killed too hehe.

There's a Rare Lion in the undead outdoor zone that was kicking our pants. Verbal-from-a-year-ago never made it off the ground against 2 of his sidekicks. The named itself was pretty tough, too. More HP than a red named in Shroud, and no reliable way to stay on your feet. We had a Rogue from Khyber with us that was beating on the named the whole time with full sneak attack damage, plus Verbal about 35% of the time (on my back the other 65%), and it still took a good 4-5 minutes to take that guy down

On the plus side, I have 5 of the 6 gems now

I rolled up a new toon on Risia to check that stuff out, and it's sloooooooow to level. Might just start a few lowbs now and get them to 3 before the mod goes live.

There are some interesting item sets that you can get in the new lowbie content that may be worth doing for a couple of characters (+2 to-hit, mini-spell-storing, etc).

Also, you can bypass the new lowbie stuff after doing it once with a character on your account.

I've rolled up, and run 3 lowbies through the NPE. I'm sure it will get old eventually, but right now it's been a blast every time. Also, as you mentioned there are some really cool lowbie items that will be very nice to have in Stormreach.
