True, but if a monster is looking in that direction when the lever is pulled, but couldn't hear or see anything doing it, how does it know what to attack?

Just think it like this, your sitting in your living room and the TV shuts off, you look around see nothing, you start to explore and due to a low hide skill you find the kids with the universal remote, you then pounce on them with a furry of tickling until they cannot breath. "AHH VICTORY IS MINE" But, what say it's the wife, she has a much better hide and move silently skill and she can back it up with a good Diplo if you get too close. Most likely you will be returning to the TV without your nemesis ever being found.

With all the skill ability checks that go on in the game, I cannot see why they haven't addressed this yet. One should take a negative to your hide check when interacting with an object. One should also take a negative to both hide and move silently when a MOB is in alert. Diplo should come into play to settle down a MOB who is in alert.

This game does not have to be all about hack and slash.

I'd rather they give a hit to your hide check than simply pop you up regardless. After all, a 16 level rouge SHOULD be able to stealth through Stealthy Repro without the 1/2 level kobolds noticing.

Agree. Rogues should have the ability to climb, by-pass barriers, etc. without having mobs spot them. Not without risk, but with skill and ability, they should be able to do it.
