    Default same issue...again

did what you said and nothing. Added an account though to .net passbook on user account seemed at the time the answer as it started up with updating where I left off at last night. Got on an played for a few hours and it got laggy so I thought was a good time to reboot and log back in.....as before...it somehow resets it to default screw with him mode. It is now back at same error as 3 days ago....! I have noticed a pattern though. Seems I can only play ever few days (3) for as long as I have the game on. The very sec I reboot game/pc....I am back where I started from and have to wait 3 days for it to nnot be mad at me or whatever it is doing. It seems to reset to play mode on its own and random. I am very confused indeed. Well, l guess I will be playing 3 days then!

This is probably a dumb question here, but you did install to a different directory, and not under program files due to the fact you are running Vista, correct?

Also, you state with a new install you were able to play, then you rebooted and you were dead in the water again. I can't help but think the first run, you may have good settings, then it gets something from your computer and changes it and then no longer plays properly. I'd be trying to get a copy of this for backup defaulting.

Have you tried deleting the ini file that contains game system settings? Not your keyboard layout file mind you.

what she posted above is good to try but did you go find the directory manually and see if it was still there the next time you restarted? Did you scan for viruses and malware? Not super common but could cause problems as well.

    Default not working again

I never said I was on Vista, it is plain old WIN XP, nothing fancy. I had it running last night right away when I was messing with .net Framework 1.1. Not sure what I did off hand to make it work, it was just working (launched) as soon as I was messing with it. So, trial and error I am trying to see and do same as last night. I played for a several hours and made the mistake yet again to just bite the bullet and reboot......I am in the dark again. Each and everytime I get it going, play for hours, then reboot....same result....dead in the water. So, as of now I am not able to get on again. More hours of trying to work this out alone.

My reply said nothing about vista other than trying what she suggested. Everything other than her first sentence still applies. As well as my reply itself having you check the directories.

    Default that sounds great......

I mean it sounds like it might work if only I had a clue where to even look for the .int file or directory. Seeing as I have no clue what the 2 of you are talking about or where to look to get to them. Might want to explian it in more detail please?

In your windows menu, Open the search option and type Userpreference.ini to manually search for the User preference file. To search for the Launcher settings, type in Launcher in same bar. These should bring up everthing you need. Just take a little sifting through in Notepad to find the exact ones. Feel free to post them here for Altumus and the rest of us to look at. If Altumus would be so kind as to name off the key files that we'd need to find this exact info for, save a lot of time.

Yeah, two launchers is what I have as well. Now, if Altumus can peruse these and see if there is anything that looks outta place. Even though, compared to my log, they're the same......

Now, given your previous posts, you obviously need to be hand held. Get your wife, both of you read that, then have her start talking to her people if anything similar needs to be done.

Second, if you can't find your way around to find files, I have no idea what you think you are doing messing around with your .NET settings. Re install.

Default and the ruddiness awards goes too....

I know how to find files....I want to know WHAT files I need to look for from a LEGIT DDO customer service. If I can change registry settings and reformat a hard drive blindfolded I really do not need someone belittling me when asking for help on something. DDO knows the game and the programs is why I came to THEM! I was playing last week and before just fine....now it seems it lets me play around 6pm. The launcher has a error until 5-6pm then....poof....like nothing was wrong. I want to know why about all of that. My wife has ask the Tech guys who happen to install and run checks...their end is fine. The network on their end is fine. I guess I will have to get use to playing from 6pmish til when I reboot and it blocks me again...good times. Thanks for the others who tried to help all the same.

At the ripe old age of 2 months, both of my dogs knew better than to bite the hand that was trying to feed them...

Lol, You are blaming DDO for a problem with your computer or network. How in the world can DDO(Turbine) know what you have done to your computer or network. And you say you can change registry settings and reformat a hard drive blindfolded, How and the world can know what you have changed in your computer or network, if you say you have changed your resistry.

Sounds to me you need to read that post that Missing Minds found and after you do that I would do a clean reinstall of your operating system or you can also do a System Restore to a date prior to the time you started having problems, if that does not help then do a clean install

If You know so much about computer, why have you not shown us a Tracert. If you are having problems, thats one of the first things you need to do. It helps pinpoint where the problem is.

If you ha TPG Internet, then you need to call them to find out why you are hveing problems.
