Default Devs -Specialty enhancements. Anything further?

Eladrin or any other devs, perhaps you can answer this. I have a few questions about the "specialty" lines of enhancements (aka prestige classes) based on yesterday's post in the Ranger forum about the advancement "paths" (i.e. 6/9/12/15/18 vs. 6/12/18).

Will this apply to *all* speciality lines?
In other words, is it safe for us to assume there will be additions to the current specialty lines in all current classes that have them? (i.e. Bard, Ranger, Rogue).

Does the Paladin "lineage" line count towards this path? I.e. is there a possibility that the Vulkoor / Sovereignty / Lord of the Blades / etc. lines will be expanded in the future?

The previous tease about upcoming Fighter and Paladin enhancement lines (i.e. PDK, Kensai, etc.) was vague, and downright cruel. Can you offer us anything else at this time?
Similarly, I think it's a pretty fair assumption that other classes will also be receiving enhancement lines. Can you drop any teasers there?

In time, my current plan is to expand all existing prestige enhancement lines up through level 18, and to introduce prestige enhancement lines for all classes that don't yet have them.

    So:

    Yes.

No, the faith lines for Paladins and Clerics are considered distinct from Prestige Enhancements. It's possible (and likely, actually) that there will be additions to those lines in the future.

Paladins and Fighters are next on the Prestige Enhancement list, and thus are the ones I can talk the most about.

Yay, Frenzied Berserker. DC 18 will save or kill your own party.

Two classes, each with 3 choices = 6 specialties. Each specialty probably provides at least 3 benefits, and also has 2-3 requirements. (2 * 3) * (3 + 3) = 36 facts about Prestige Enhancements.

So you can make a list of 36 info items, and have a CR person publish one per business day, and we'll have something new to read each day until module 8.

Make that 2/day so Mod 8 comes out really close to my guess.

You're wrong. My guess is clearly the most educated one.

^^ Hence the name "DEFENDER of Siberys"

Thanks for the responses and the little sneak-peak, Eladrin. Definitely a good way to end a Friday work day.

    • +1 AC to your Aura of Good
    • +1 save to your Aura of Good
    • +1 morale bonus to your Aura of Good vs fear
    • +1 Concentration to your Aura of Good

    And, either of:
    • Tower Shield Profiency
    • Automatic stabilization of wounds bellow 0.
    • 3 DR/- while blocking OR
    • +5 AC accompanied of a -5 penalty to your attacks rolls (toggle)

No, Monk/Pal with CE can qualify for Defender of Syberis.

So can any class that splashes a few levels of Paladin (Fighter will be popular I'd wager).

But, like all enhancement lines, the real question is "what will I miss out on at the 2nd or 3rd (or more) tier by merely splashing"?

*edit* - also keep in mind those pre-reqs are subject to change. I find it odd that, at present, 3 levels of Paladin + 1 feat will qualify you for Defender, which most likely starts at level 6.
I'm sure more things will be added...

    Hi Eladrin

Thanks for the comments so far - but can I trouble you more and ask about the Kensai PrE?

Not going to ask for any specifics but I'd love to know what you're using for source material as pnp has three different versions of Kensai. Is it the Oriental Adventures, Complete Warrior or 4th edition version?

so elves have arcane archer as a race prc, and dwarves are getting dwarven defender

is there any chance that warforge will be getting one of the other fighter prc's as a racial enhancement?

I would be shocked if WF Juggernaut didn't make it in the game. It's iconic for Eberron. Unfortunately, if the healing restriction (0% from heal instead of 50%) is part of it, then it will have to absolutely rock for folks to take it.

Default I'll say what everybody else has been saying, but out loud and here:

Aren't these a high number of enhancements for the Prestige class when paladins are starved in enhancement poitns anyway? AND isn't the requirment of the Paladin Focus of Good not used in many setups as it does not work well, thus many taking an unwanted one reducing their EP line even more?

The rest I see no problem with and even welcome the feat options (except I question diehard at the high levels; rarely do I go just below 0 more like -20 - -60 below 0.)

Also, having solid BENEFITS laid out woud help planning, even if those are subject to change too.

The only class I had no choice and had to start over with after my first creation was paladin.

Now I plan on using that class for permadeath, so careful planning is a must. I hope for the rest of the players, this feedback helps them with a lot fewer restrictions down the line...
