    Default Sli?

I recently found out that DDO is now SLI compatible. My question is other than actually enabling SLI on my system, do I have to do anything else to gain a benefit from SLI? I have enabled SLI, and have no difference whatsoever in my Framerate or other graphical options when check for optimal settings is used. I am using two Nvidia 8800gt cards w/512mb onboard for each in an SLI configuration. My framerate in most places with low traffic is 62 steady, it only fluxes when more players are in an area.

First, for most users, unless you are using a very high resolution sli will have little to no impact on 90% of games available currently. That said, SLI is a driver/videocard based mechanic and there is nothing special you need to do.

In SLI mode, have the AA disabled and check your framerates.

I also run two 8800gt 512mb cards in SLI mode.

It allows me to run everything at the highest possible settings and use a 32" screen to do so.

With only one card active, I get about 60fps, and slows to about 25-20 fps when a LOT of things are going on in the area my character is looking at. AA at x4 doesn't slow FPS much, but causes hitching when running.

With two cards in SLI it is about 90/45 fps. It really helps when the viewed scene gets chaotic, and allows me to get my characters moving with hairpin turns and quick leaps when I need them. x4 AA doesn't cause hitching much at all when in SLI mode.

    Hope that helps.

Nice, was thinking of SLI-ing 2 - 9600GT's and seems it'll be worth it. Any other people running SLI in DDO? (or x-fire for knowledge base)

I run SLI (2x8800GT) on mine, as Altimus mentioned, the difference is notable on very large monitors (I run at 2560x1600 on a 30").

If I disable SLI (happens every time Nvidia installs an update, grumble), the difference is beyond notable... everything is all stuttery and whatnot.

I ran 2x 8800GTS 640MB cards, then 2x 9600GT OCs and now 1 GTX 260 OC. With eahc step the min frame rate rose. SLi is worth it for those who are play with big enough monitors. ANother the OP needs to do is turn on vsync in order to get the higher frame rate. With VSYnc enabled, the frame rate is tied to his refresh rate. Turn it off and watch your frame rate jump. This will also allow you to turn up/max out other setting in game to give you a much better gaming experience. WIth my GTX260, I'm running 8x AA, 16x AF and everything in game is totally maxed out and my frame rate never goes below 25(shroud with like 20 spells going off at begining area) at 1680x1050.

I also have a Evga GTX260, and for the most part my framerates never drop below 100 and I have had max of 400fps in DDO(running every setting to the max)

But, I only play on a 22 inch LCD.

The bigger your monitor it is better to have SLI or crossfire, but you also need a processor that will not bottleneck everything. So, if you have a older processor and have a good videocard, and are getting slow framerates then adding another videocard is not going help all that much.

Plus, you have to look at PSU too, can it handle another card.
