    Default Barbarian Prestige Enhancements?

Turbine has released news of the paladin and fighter prestige enhancements scheduled to come in mod9. I had heard that Turbine was planning to also add some barbarian prestige enhancements at the same time. I don't have a barbarian, but if they add some prestige enhancements such as bear warrior, frenzied berserker, or even dragon disciple I would roll one in a second. So any chance of a little sneak peak Turbine or at least a little tidbit on if you are still planning to release the barbarian enhancements for mod9?

I think the barbarian "prestige enhancement" is already in in the form of Crit Rage 1 + 2.

Dragon Disciple requires arcane spell casting as a prerequisite, so I somewhat doubt it will be a barbarian prestige enhancement.

Exactly which is why I said even dragon disciples. Most dragon disciples builds by the way do have a splash of bard or a couple of levels of sorceror and the rest barbarian or fighter levels. They could also add something like the eye of grumush which would also be the half-orc prestige class.

I would think something like the frenzied beserker would be a PrE for barbs.

I think Zeal, divine might, and the paladin smite boosts are the equivalent of crit rage 2, the tempest enhancment, ram's might, and favored enemy enhancements is the equivalent of crit rage 2, and the upcoming weapon specialization enhancements will be the equivalent of crit rage 2. That is the intent of Turbine.

I would welcome something to make barbarians more fun even some flavor enhancements. I don't know how the frenzied berserker would look like in ddo especially the whole will save to end the rage or you start attacking party members aspect, but I would love to see what Turbine comes up with.

    LMAO

Pretty much sums it up. Barbarians need love as much as Sorcerers need Spell Points.

Lets wait and see if the whole "equalisation" of melee types actually works before S&B melee´s fall behind again.

Yeah pallys will be so broken when next mod comes around.. Guess complaining did get the pally complainers places. Not saying you were one of the pally complainers, but hey 14 levels of pally for zeal, pretty good smites now with the refresh timer, and a damage output per hit in barbarian territory without the criticals or smites with divine might's sacred bonus, regular strength damage, and spells to augment this damage. All of this while attacking as fast as a ranger. This all not including the prestige classes in mod9. No idea what the fighter weapon specialization enhancement will do next mod and if there are any cool feats, but they better be good to keep pace with rangers, barbarians, and now paladins. I predict alot of twf 14 pally 2 monk builds who can shell out the damage and have the sick ac coming in mod8.

FYI, Divine Might currently has such a hefty base charisma requirement for the higher tiers that it will be difficult for a paladin that has GTWF to benefit much past tier 2 of the enhancement, which is 1 minute +2 to +6 damage clickie. You're going to be looking at a 32 pt build thats going to need a +2 STR, DEX, CON, WIS, and CHA tome to make it all fly well at high level.

Paladins have been knocked down several notches over the course of this game.
    1. Our Auras lost +1 AC/+1 Saves. We finally got back the +1 AC with Bulwark of Good 4.
    2. Divine Favor went from having a max of +5 Hit/+5 Damage to +3 Hit/+3 Damage.
    3. Offensive Builds trump Defensive Builds 95% of the time these days.
    4. We're finally now getting a decent Divine Feat/Enhancement that we can burn turn undead attempts on. The game has been out since first quarter 2006.
    5. Barbarians got Crit Rage 1 at the same time Divine Favor was nerfed...
    6. Try getting into a Shroud Raid as a pure Paladin

No high level barbarian has any right to complain about paladins...Be happy you have Crit Rage I and Crit Rage II. And pray it doesn't get nerfed.

It is pretty easy to have an 18 base charisma for the +6 sacred bonus. +2 cha tome and 16 starting cha. Divine Favor is still +3 hit/ +3 damage. 30 strength easily attainable with rage pot, +2 strength tome, +6 item, 4 level ups, and 16 base. throw on power attack. You have a +24 main hand damage and you add zeal which is basically the equivalent of crit rage 2. This is not the max dps specced pally and it has close to the dps of a top flight barbarian without its smites factored in, but with smites you get the picture so advantage paladin.

I don't look to the past I just look to future, a future which is presumable just around the corner in mod8. I am sure there will be raid leaders who have no idea that pure paladin or paladin level 14 with splash got a big boost, but those are the same raid leaders that fail raids now. I agree offensive builds do trump defensive builds and also that paladin makes an excellent offensive build in the future..

I would like some barbarians prestige enhancements in mod 9 along with the fighter and paladin ones. I think Turbine is close to getting it right with the classes in terms of balance. I also don't want to see any nerfs.

I was a paladin complainer and I agree with matt. I think paladins are getting a good bit of stuff. It remains to be seen how effective it all will be, but I'm happy with the changes.

Bring on the barbarian specialty lines! I'm curious to see what they'll be.

Yes, but DDO kobolds get arcane casting via the Draconic Rite of Passage enhancement, so they can qualify as a pure-class barb.

We don't have kobolds as a playable race which makes this a rather far-fetched reason to add it as a Barbarian Prestige Enhancement.

Besides, I said "somewhat doubt". I never said Barbarians won't see Dragon Disciple as a Prestige Enhancement. I simply think that it is unlikely.

Also, if I may ask, how do we know DDO kobolds have enhancements, let along a specific enhancement called Draconic Rite of Passage?

Barbs will probably get plenty of love in Mod 9. Mighty Rage is pretty good. I think they might as well give Barbarians a Frenzy Berserker PrE, and Bear Warrior PrE when druids comes out in Module 9.

unless they find a realyl good way to balace the frenzie part of the berserker I hhope they dont put it in because that PRC is insanly potent in PnP but so is the downside IE a frenzies turning on the party can very esaly kill one or 2 pople in a combat round befor the party cna do something about it, especaly if the last badguy dropes right befor the beserkers turn.... I/ve sene frenzieds in action first hand on the reciving end they HURT one of the onyl times i was actuly worried when i saw class leveled NPCs of a apropreate CR on the other side of the battle field.
Prophits of the New Republic-- Khyber--PnP Vetren of more years then I wish to admit
    Desteria MoonStar-Sorc20--Mcgruf The Crime Dog-Dwarf Ftr12/Pal3/Rgr5

    Haha...frenzied berserkers! Ahhh...memories!

I played one once at lvl 12 (one shot game). It was a fairly large party with a Mystic Theurge, TWF Fighter, Monk, Arcane Trickster, Druid, and something else.

We stumbled upon the villainess performing a rite upon the princess we were supposed to be protecting. The nasty b**** was protected by 4 flesh golems and an iron golem (or some such...a real challenge for us anyway). The mages hit the party with Bull's Strength, Greater Magic Weapon (for me), and Enlarge Person (ditto) and I charged in. Hit my barbarian's rage, got hit by an attack of opportunity and went into frenzy.

In the second round I took out 2 of the 4 flesh golems, and the players/characters were about to start cheering me on, when one of them pointed out that I had something like a 4 Will save, and about 10 rounds left on my frenzy, and was doing more damage in one shot than most of them had HP. Then they started hoping that I'd take care of most of the stuff there, but get killed or incapacitated before finishing the job. Thing is, at level 4 FB, you get a nifty thing called Deathless Frenzy, and silly things like HP damage just don't stop you.

I think I was at -80 HP when I started tearing into the iron golem. Getting scared, the casters decided to be proactive about stopping me from killing them, so they summoned not one, but TWO hydras (couldn't tell you how many heads), that they placed right beside me as fodder. One of the mages cast Mirror Image, and made sure ALL the images were closer to me than he was, and the other mage sent his animated table familiar (yeah, a TABLE) siddling on over to me, hoping that its very high DR would keep it sticking around for more than one shot (and making sure I couldn't take a full move after hacking it to toothpicks).

Out of character I was LMFAO, but requested that they not let me die when I dropped out of frenzy. I think that after the cleric expended all of his available healing for the day, I was at 3 HP when my frenzy wore off (due to a Hold Person and Calm Emotions being cast on me...readied of course). Probably was at around -200 HP or so at one point.

I really hope the frenzied berserker never even makes it to the drawing board for potential barbarian PrE!

The only thing that I could get behind Turbine acquiring from the class are the two power attack enhancers (Improved and Superior I think). Or maybe Inspire Rage [frenzy], as a sort of party buff the barbarian can bestow when he rages. **cough BROKEN cough***

As Matt proposed, i would like to see the bear Warrior, tho, i doubt it will make it before the druids, or maybe it will, and it will be a good testing for shapechanging. I wish my barb could transform into a bear, and the bonus to str/con is just ridiculous when you hit the last bearshape .

And it makes a perfect 3 steps PRe.
lvl6 - Black bear (+8str/+2dex/+4con when changing shape)
lvl15 - Brown bear (+14str/+2dex/+6con when changing shape)
lvl18 - Grizzly bear (+20str/+2dex/+8con when changing shape)

Each time you take another level of bear warrior, you gain 1 transformation per rest. So 1 per tier for a maximum of 3 per rest.

I think it would be a pretty cool idea, and would add some flavour to the class.

P.S. Dont rate my PRe suggestion, I'm not a DDO dev, and this was just put so forumites who dont know this DnD prestige class have an idea of what it is all about.
