So, I come back after a few weeks away and now I see the craziest stuff, first Hass is rejected from a Shroud run and also doesn't get onto the Inspires' Best of Thelanis melee list... yikes.
Well, it comes down to this, a good percentage of the players in this game are looking for either a prototypical team or people they know really well and a name they don't recognize or an unguilded player or a build that they can't see as being beneficial will not make the cut.
Heck, I got lucky one day when I was bored and needed Coalescense and jumped onto Hass's LFM and saw what he could do, so from then out, I was happy to have him on my raids.
But, for those of us that don't have the prototypical build or the popularity of personality that some do or like to stick more with friends and / or guildies, we will struggle and sometimes get rejected from teams.
Like some who have posted, I also post my raids / teams and look first for people I know, then guilds I know and then builds that look decent... and if I'm desperate (which I very rarely am) I may pick up someone who I don't know, with a differenent build and go... "Well, I have the core set, so this guy / gal is just a bonus and I hope they just live long enough to enjoy the ride. Every once in a while they surprise me and do well...

You wanna always be accepted into a group...run a cleric....rarely if ever do they get turned down.
Other than that...well i guess leader gets too choose.
Them's the breaks.
/look on the bright side...when i open the chest as cleric you know im getting screwed over!
I know the thread is getting a bit long in the tooth, but I just had to share...
After getting a no-reply-group-filled-up rejection for the Shroud, I decided to post my first Shroud completion LFM ever... it looked something like this.
"Fun run - understand verbal instructions, not restricting classes (BYOH)"
As I accepted every request, the group filled in less than 5 minutes (2 of them were clerics). It took a little longer than usual to complete, but complete we did and with only 1 death in part 4 due to lag.
FYI - the "verbal instructions" part was refering to English speaking players who ignore repeated pleas to avoid the Devil in part 2
"I require a reminder as to why raining arcane destruction is not an appropriate response to all of life's indignities" - Vaarsuvius, OoTS #674
It's kind of the challenge of running a non-typical build due to expectations of other players. The "certain classes heal, others tank, others dps" will never really go away. When I raid going in with my DPS ranged cleric - and I specifically joined as dps not healing - I still get the "hey where's the mass deathward?" "how come you still have a bow in your hand?" and "I need a heal!".
In this game you play the way that's fun for you. so long as you let the leader know what he can expect from you it's all gravy so long as you're not the cause of the raid suffering.
all I know is that if ministry is running a raid then it's not going to fail and I'm clicking to join cuz he's not uptight about unconventional builds

"drink triple ... see double ... act single! uh oh wife aggro" *hides*
yea i thought he was the biggest gimp in a battle with his sorc and his ranger. pfffft then he proved me wrong.

There is nothing more fun for me than proving people wrong by doing something a bit different and having it work out.
All I need to say is just one thing and those people like Cali, Daishado, Kyrian, Mem and a number of others will easilly understand and agree with... "It's not about the build... it's all about the player".
Seriously, I'm not a hater, but nothing bores me more than the prototypical builds and they are the last ones I want on my teams, unless of course they are friends, then you just take em anyways.
And seriously, the Shroud ain't that tough. I always take a goofy looking build in hopes they will show up well and people will take a second look, hopefully opening up their eyes.

On the basis of if i had run with him before or not, and known what he was caple of doing id except for sure, there are a great handful of folks i run shroud with that after a while we know who all is capable of tasks. To me its always fun to run a broad variety of classes,as long as the end result is a completion.
nobody owes you an answer...they put up the lfm and they decide who joins. THey might have been afk and then came back to ten people waiting and saw their buddies.
I dislike someone sending tells to me as a LFM leader. I never answer them.
IF I decline someone, they send tell after tell after tell. I do not need that.
So...either you have to get in a long discussion with someone or ignore them completely.
If I join an LFM I wait for a few seconds and then just continue on my merry way or start a group myself. If they finally allow the join, then there you go.
Best thing to do is just hit join and wait...if more than a minute then move on...you can hit join one more time if you must...but then move on and do something else.
If the person is afk they may come back.
Although some people live by asking to joing first and sending tells back and forth others just get terribly annoyed by it.
One short tell absolute maximum ... no response and you send another, than you are probably annoying someone. I usually just add someone like that to the ignore feature as I am usually killing things and do not have time to babysit someone in a chat box.
Just a game
