    Default Defrag Problems...

So.. My gf's computer has been getting lots more lag than normal in the shroud raid. As part of my "normal" routine, I defragged her computer. I ran across a bunch of files that aren't being defragged, and I was wondering if this was normal. I ran the defrag twice, and got approximately the same results.

    Code:
Fragments File Size Files that cannot be defragmented
    3 1.35 GB \My documents\client_sound.dat
    113 1.39 GB \Program Files\Turbine\Dungeons & Dragons Online - Stormreach\client_sound.dat
    86 1.39 GB \Program Files\Turbine\Dungeons & Dragons Online - Stormreach - Risia\client_sound.dat
    44 1.68 GB \Program Files\Turbine\Dungeons & Dragons Online - Stormreach\client_highres.dat
    5 1.91 GB \My documents\client_surface.dat
Now, the files from the My Documents folders are leftover files from when I'd reinstalled DDO a while back. Per the recommended instructions for avoiding the crushing download time, I'd reinstalled the game from the disk, and copied over the dat files from an existing installation.

It just seemed a little odd to me, and I was wondering if this was normal behavior or not.

defrag only fully defrags if u have the room on the HD saying that large files (1.5g like ddo has) and i think it less than 5g HD space left it can't defrag them

IF this files are only back up i would say delete them (but only if they are backups 2 look like they are 3 are DDO files now

Hmm.. that drive had about 20 gig free at the time. It's up to 30 gigs free now. I'll try it again and see what happens.

Yup. I deleted the 2 extra after the second defrag.

I'm actually temped to delete the dat files altogether.... Run a defrag... Then copy them back over from my other computer, and re-update everything.

I'm just not sure if that will fix it, or if it's even necessary.
