In my opinion guinness gives other stout beer a bad name because of its "fad" or "pop" status. It's OKAY and that is all. And that big freaking head that you bar rats like to put dimes on has nothing to do with the beer and more of how it is gassed at serving.

however guinness foreign extra stout is what i consider to be the companys crowning beer because its local taste that differs slightly in whatever country you find it in can add complexities of taste that are very different from what most people expect from guinness.

    learn something
    NO dude. No.

Guiness Foreign Extra Stout was made for you Micro Brew heads who need an exotic name to think something tastes good.

Guiness Draught, my choice of all beer, stout or other, is the same as it's been for 50 years, based on a recipe that has remained largely unchanged since 1821. All of your cute little micro breweries with their 3 month old stout recipe doesn't hold a candle to Guiness. Around for almost 250 years, the cause for an entire country teeming with alcoholics, Guiness practly owns Dublin. The Guiness family turned their house into the biggest and most beuatiful park in Dublin, responsible for for employing 1 out of every 30 Dublinites. If only their level of philanthropy could be duplicated by other new money families around the world.

    Hardly a fad.

PS: In addition to the shirt and bottle opener, I'm sure I still have a neon sign somewhere.

    OMG learn something.

Luckily I never run into gin snobbery/pretention so it remains tops for me (Rogue distillery spruce gin = favorite currently)

Never spend too much or too little on vodka. Vodka snobbery only lasts until the first bad night. Once people experience the horror of a hangover from Chirac or other grape based vodkas, they will meekly go back to their grey goose.

indeed indeed ... though grey goose is actually good at room temperature which is a plus all in all.

Widmer isn't bad, but there are better breweries here in Oregon. Not a huge Hef fan, but Rogue's version is better (bonus points for coming in a 22oz bottle), and their Dead Guy Ale is my personal favorite.

    LOL

somehow i fail to see what a park has to do with the TASTE of the beer. I guess we'll agree to disagree on this pint.

Blue Moon is a product of Coors and is from the U.S. Hoegaarden is from Belgium and has pretty much set the style. The founder of Hoegaarden moved to Texas where he started the Celis brewery at some point. That had some very good brews as well.

Technically, though, the big American brewers are foreign owned. These are the light lagers that America exports and is made fun of for. The good American beer is mostly not exported anywhere.

Honestly not much of a drinker at all, I like to try new beers though, there are so many different kinds. Funny thing, you can't order beer online in New Jersey and have it shipped, its illegal.

Huh. What makes you think you could figure out how to help me if you don't understand the point I made about the park?

You stick to Kalamazoo Stout, and I'll drink Guiness.

I'll back you up, bud. Guinness is actually an excellent beer. It's probably the best beer that you can find just about anywhere. Even in some dive bar, chances are they still have Guinness. I might describe it as the world's best omnipresent beer.

Fruit in beer?!!?! <puke> what the heck are they thinking? Isn't beer good enough as is?

I never could get into all those funky seasonal spiced brews. If I want spices or fruit I'll eat spice cake or apple donuts with my beer.

A really good American wheat is Easy Street Wheat from the Odell Brewing Company in Ft. Collins, CO.

If you can find it, drink it!
