Are you nuts? I'd never bind a w/p rapier until it has about 90% damage to it. Even at that point I'd imagine it would sell on the AH for maximum bid. At that point someone else would buy it, bind it, then put three or four adamantine rituals on it to make it quest worthy again.
I repair mine in the desert and with 2 years of use not a one has more than 15% damage .... I seriously doubt this game will have my attention in another 6-8 years that it would take to ruin it.
