Server Merge Coming Soon??

I heard rumors ... just wondering if there is any official timeframe for server merges in the future, or is it just a wait and see at the moment, or maybe its all a big secret??

I would say that your rumors are without basis in fact.

The likelihood of a server merge in the foreseeable future is approaching 0. The NPE effort makes it more likely that they are going to push to increase players rather than reduce capacity.

Yes..... However, NPE as far as I understand it is just a way to introduce players to the game in a much more palpable fashion and give them the skills they need without relying on 100% in-house players giving them the basics onward.

Now, when/if they ever convert this game to a fully monty 4th Edition game, I'm out because I've been through games where you completely change the structure and way things work -- a bad move in my opinion.

I mean, who would want to beat the NGE's status as the Worse Video Game MMORPG Update EVER? I don't think Turbine would want to shoot for that lackluster title - Let Some Other Entity keep it.

I sincerely hope they don't ever have to do another. I don't want it. I'm happy the way it is. Think about how many people would have displaced names AGAIN due to another server merge? And excess data would run rampant. It's not a good idea. There are plenty of groups available on Argonnessen and Khyber. I think a lot of people are too afraid to start a group, which is why they end up waiting so long sometimes.

Guys, seriously start a group (a PUG, yes) if you're not finding what you want to do. You may not be "awesome" at the quest, but that's why there's a NORMAL setting so you can learn how to do the quest. Don't be ridiculous and underpower yourself and your group when doing a new content -- play level-appropriate. It's not hard. I've never had a problem forming a group (ok, like 98% of the time). And no, I'm not running around on Kist or Thet when I do it, so I'm not using my "name" to attract people to join then either. I run my alts and they do fine, even when I don't know the quest that well.

And by forcing yourself to lead you become several things. One, hopefully a better communicator and/or typist. If you're even remotely trying to make it through the quest you'll have to direct your party unless someone says they know the quest well & is offering to take the reins once you fill the group.

Another thing is you'll become a better player. Learning by trial & error often cements hard-learned facts when you play unfamiliar content and you were "THAT CLOSE" to completing when you made the fatal error. You'll remember that, always, and you'll save hopefully every group you're in from then on out in that quest. There are so many dungeons it's hard to remember every detail, so feel free to specialize in a specific set of dungeons -- but it doesn't mean you have to wait for a knowledgeable player on all quests. Start yer own group and bring your game to the table.

That being said *cheers* Go Team Go! If we ever do have another server merge, I'd like the developers to consider Khyber & Argonnessen as kindred spirits. I've run with a lot of their players over on Khyber and from my perspective I think the servers would merge well. Also, I would not be upset if I were forced to be from Khyber if that was the wisdom that the developers sought to use -- either server name truly would represent the overall populace well, although I would weep for my lost Argonnessen initially.

I think that the NPE should have come before the FIRST merge.
As well as the 'advertising' (banners, web articles, etc)

To merge the servers, and THEN push for new players makes no sense.

Asking them to do that again, is just ridiculous.

While I dont think a merge is needed now the previous merge was absolutely needed. If you dont think it was you are either nuts or on Argo which was the only viable server premerge.

Prior to the first merge, I was against it. After, I saw it was a good thing, and added a good degree of life to the game.

That being said... I'm against another one at this time. Not a good idea.

The only way I would see a merge as being good, is if Turbine had advanced the technology enough that only one server was needed and it could accomodate unlimited growth

That's how EVE works, but I don't think those guys have shared their tech yet...

While I tend to agree another one is probably not coming, I will point out that these were what was all said right before the first one

The first merge was done "at the behest of the players". I sincerely disagree that it's needed or wanted now! Don't even think about the word/topic of server mergers.
