    Post Rogue build please help!

    Hi! I want to make a Rogue, though I want a good build. First of all I want to detect traps before anybody gets hurt. I want to be able to find secret doors and also I would like to pick-lock. And I would also like to stealth . I would also like to fight some from range or upfront. But please tell me if I can't do all of this and some needs to be traded out. So please tell what and if I need to trade out. Also is there a specific race for what I want to do? I am sorta new so please help, thanks!

    What you are describing seems to be a fairly standard rogue, and in the right group you should be able to manage all these things. It does require a cooperative group (one that doesn't rush past you while you're sneaking along looking for the traps), and some attention to having the right gear for the situation (such as some specific weapons for dealing with things like undead and constructs, which normally can't be sneak attacked). A good starter build to look at would be the rogue build in the "Templates for New Players" guide - forget which forum it's in, either Classes General Discussion or Player-Created Strategy Guides.     In order to be able to both trapsmith and fight well, I advise going Dwarf. Any race can trapsmith well enough for all traps in the game (although Human is best at it, all races are adequate). But when it comes to fighting, Dwarves have a lot more HP due to the Toughness enhancements, and these extra HP are critical to survival in combat.


    I'd consider something like this (warning: pretty rough build sketch here):

    Str 16 (plus level up points)
    Dex 15 (you'll eventually want a +2 tome here too)
    Con 16
    Int 12/15 with 32 point builds
    Wis 8
    Cha 6

    Skills:
    Use Magic Device
    Disable Device
    Search
    Open Lock
    Hide
    Move Silently
    Spot
    Balance
    Jump (maximum possible minus one point)
    Tumble (one point only)
    (any other here if you have 32 point builds)

    Feats:
    Toughness (once only, mainly for the enhancements)
    Two Weapon Fighting
    Improved Two Weapon Fighting
    Greater Two Weapon Fighting (requires that you eat a +2 DEX tome eventually - you'll get one when at endgame, don't worry)
    Any others
    I don't have a zerging problem.
