The crit range is a big factor in price/availability. w/p weapons that only crit on a 20 (like bows) are less useful (unless you have improved crit with that weapon type), so tend to appear on the AH more often, and for lower prices. Daggers and shortswords appear occasionally, but tend to be quite pricey. Rapiers....I get the feeling most of those are either unavailable at any price or for trade only.

I just sold my rapier for the exact price of 7.5 million plat, so they do sell.

I have had a w/p shortsword, w/p dagger, w/p rapier, w/p repeater.... the rapiers I love so much I would never get rid of mine ... I noticed quite an improvement going 2 rapiers versus 1 rapier and ss

I have a sweet wp pick with my barb but ive found more and more I prefer my my tier3 min2s. Though the w/p is awsome for untill a char hits the shroud but by the time my next toons hit that mark Ill have all the ingreds i need ready to craft. If only I can convince my guildies to get me in the shroud at lvl 12.

When I talk about effectiveness i also make sure to mention that the style you play, your build, quests you run, who you run with make an infinite difference.

For example, IME on a raid against trash mobs, Vorpal is better than W/P. But what about some regular quest against Orthons, on elite? What if everyone in your party has W/P (yes, this does happen in say guild groups)? What if you have been assigned to duo the outside of Hound and collect stones? The context makes a huge difference in utility. Only experience will tell you when to use what.
