If you have a firewall remove and re-add the exceptions for the game, this can also be caused by antivirus programs, net nanny type programs and other "network" security apps.

You do not need to bump - these forums don't move fast, but "that didnt help" doesnt really give us much to go on, please read the how to get help sticky thread and also try doing a clean boot using msconfig.

To perform a clean boot, follow the steps that are appropriate for your version of Windows. Note: You may experience a temporary loss of some services functionality when you follow these steps. When you restore the settings, the functionality will be restored. However, the original error message or behavior may return.

    For Windows Vista:
1.Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. -If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue
    2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup
    3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box
    4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All
    5. Click OK, and then click Restart

    For Windows XP:
Click Start, click Run, type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK
On the General tab, click Selective Startup
Under Selective Startup, click to clear the following check boxes: Load Startup Items
Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All
Click OK, and then click Restart

After the computer starts, test your game and see whether the problems occur.

To restore the computer to use a normal startup:

    Start the System Configuration Utility
    Click the General tab
    Click Normal Startup
    Click OK
    Restart your computer

If you continue to experience problems please click the link at the bottom of this message.

You think that that would help with a update problem?
