Upgrade from the sword Retribution

I'm currently using Retribution on my paladin in game. I'm curious, as I've been away for two years, what is considered the next upgrade from that sword and if so where do I get it? Or is there a way to beef up the sword itself to make it palatable. I've heard about the crafting since my return but I don't really know much about it yet.

Well, Im not sure as an upgrade goes but...

A paladin has access to a spell called "Holy Sword" in Which you can create a Wide number of weapon forms, scimitars, longswords, greatswords, khopesh and i forget the rest....

Well this weapon for a paladin is... +5 Holyburst Cold Iron/Silver weapon with Protection from evil when you equip it at all times....

Quite the best choice for a paladin who needs to lay a holy beating on evil Devils and Demons, and Evil in general.

Yes... now that there are level 16 items in game.... most even good random drops will trump the effects on retribution.

The crafting in the Level 17 quest The Shroud allows you to create almost any weapon and then upgrade it with up to 3 separate damage effects (elements, holy, stacking attribute bonuses, etc) as well as 1 guaranteed bonus effect (usually a high level spell clicky), and one other possible bonus effect. That said... the paladin spell "Holy Sword" creates a rather nice weapon that sits somewhere between retribution and the gloriousness you can craft in the shroud. Try it out.

The only current means to beef up any weapon are the eldridtch rituals (a different non-raid crafting). For some number of collectibles you can add either +1 force damage *or* +1d4 force damage on crit. You can even add these effects onto shroud created weapons.

Thank you for the advice and the warm sentiments. I'm on Sarlona by the way, but thank you for the offer all the same. I remembered retribution being a big deal when I was still playing. It's served me well thus far. I'm only level 8, so hence why I asked the questions. I wanted to know what else was out there since my time playing. The level cap was still only 10 then.
