Monk Spot skill Broken?

Has anyone else noticed their monk can not spot danger even when they have Spot skill above the rogue? Two Monks in my guild are having that problem. In both cases, there was a Thief in the party who could detect danger with lower Spot skill than the Monk. I know only Rogues and characters with the Find Traps spell can search high level traps but I thought any character with high enough Spot skill could detect danger?

Anyone else seeing this?
