I'm afraid you misunderstood Pia. Please read in a more role-play appropriate understanding. Raucous and callous behaviors are relative and situational. For example, I would never swear in a group that includes a member of this guild. To do so would be callous. If you cannot refrain from such behavior, then it is best to find an adventure elsewhere. At least in this way you come to the group forewarned and prepared.

I like kids, have played with kids, have kids, like kids, and all that. Let me just say that before I say what I am saying next.

If I let my kid play DDO without supervision, I would compare that in RL with the idea of dropping my kid off at the neighborhood bar for the afternoon and hoping too that everything would turn out ok. Sure there will be some in there who might get him a coke and chat nicely while he waited for his dad to come back, but there are alot of people in there who just want to drink and do what people in bars do.

This is not a perfect analogy but I think the general idea is there. The game rating understands that in a game surrounded by adults, kids will not always get gentle treatment because many adults are just not that way. It doesn't matter what is right or wrong or good or bad. It just is. You can stand in the middle of the freeway and tell traffic to stop for all the good it would do or plead for all adults to be polite to kids for all the good that would do. Traffic won't stop and all adults will not be polite and in fact you will get run over.

I would not let a young child play this game without supervision. Thankfully mine is grown and I don't have to consider that because I might not want to allow play when younger anyway, even with supervision. I don't think I want to explain to a young kid that so many adults are horses patooties, or even less attempt to explain why. No matter how careful I was, I think that would be a recurring conversation. That conversation comes later when they are older.

I can't read whatever was posted since I just checked the thread now - but all I can say is if anyone got there panties in a bunch: Tough. I don't know the OP in Real Life - for all I know, he's a total psycho and doesn't have a kid...and that was my point/suspicion. The actions struck me as odd enough before I read this thread.

As a parent, you'd think the OP (and any other poster) would totally understand why I would be compelled to post my experience -- afterall, if it ain't REALLY an all-kid guild, the alternatives are nothing but creepy.

If your opinion/experience/RL knowledge speaks counter to my experience/suspicions, post it. That's what forums are for. I'm actually a little surprised one of the mods deleted my post, since despite what the OP claims, I never attack his "kid" in anyway (nor did I post specifics)...*shrug* but whaddya gonna do?

Either way, last time I check this thread, I hope the guild is "real" and most importantly safe.

I know Deadslug, and I have talked with his son on Voice in the past. Deadslug and I have discussed being parents.

Be assured, he is a parent and his son does play DDO.

I understand your fear of someone ya don't know.

Our Kids are our responsibility to protect and even in games it can be hard, but know this, Deadslug is genuine and so is his son.

UM.. what was this thread about again? Oh yeah... and all kids guild. My daughter is 13 and my son is 11 and they both have toons on Thelanis (son uses my account and my daughter has her own). I think the guild is a great idea and I would love to have them join you.

Ok, well, here it is. Yes its active. It has about 3 real kids that play together in it. My son, and 2 others. I'm afraid my son falls victim on most nights to a dad who is kind of a puter hog. That's changing soon as we've gotten a second puter that we're gonna be able to play at the same time. That's the status update.

If you have kids playing, you might also want to keep an eye open for my daughter's guild, with the somewhat obvious name of "raid of kids".

They are kids, so their playing ability ranges from fairly solid to somewhat basic, but I've grouped with some of them and have had pretty good results.
