    Default New Quest Ideas

What would you like to see in a quest? If you had the reins, what would you do with it?

Personally, i would like to see quests that offer a choice that could effect the layout of future updates. Say a raid that has two factions fighting and before the final fight you could choose a side, each of which would offer different loot options but depending on which option got the most completions in a given time frame, would have an effect on the next mod.

Example, you can help the troll overlord overthrow the demon patriarch or vice versa. if the trolls win, then in the future, they maybe allies, but if not then they decide to attack stormreach. Maybe the demons give you uber items, or decide to put off killing you for a while. or lie and smite you anyways. It would just be cool to have some direction in the storyline and would be good to get players involved. Would you go for the uber loot if you know that the reprocussions could be disasterous??

And i would like to see the return of some old faces as well. Maybe that guy in the beginner quest (drexelhand the devourer???) didn't die, maybe he was on the verge of death and made a deal with a devil. he now serves as a host for this demon who is bent on enslaving the kobold race!!!

Just some idea of mine, now lets here some of yours.

Default My idea would likely result in dull times for some. . .

I'd like to see some content based on the old modules. That would eliminate some of the element of surprise for those of us who have some familiarity with them, but there was a lot of written material, there. Specifically, I think it would be cool to run "Expedition to the Barrier Peaks" online or "Queen of the Spiders."

One of my favorite things that an mmo ever did to change the way they created content was to actually give us choices on which faction to follow and have those choices mean something... I honestly thought DDO did that when I first heard about gianthold... wouldn't it be kinda neat if we could choose to fight for or against the giants or dragons? EQ did it with a giant vs dwarf battle+subquests but I think DDO could do something similar to that... A series of quests that would define your choice to follow. With differing rewards for each,...

I would like to see some class specific quests. I remember many pnp d&d quests trying to acquire a special weapon for the barbarian or a sorc's magical tome.

    also

I would like to see some choice variance on quests/quest chains.

After you complete Quest A. Your response to the quest giver activates either quest B1 or B2.
Then Quest B1 activates quest C1 or C2. and quest B2 activates C3 or C4.

    or

Depending on the response you give the quest giver it would alter the quest.
for example: response A would have you helping minotaurs attack a giants castle and response B would have you helping the giants defend their castle from minotaurs.

I would love to see a Dragonlance spinoff with in DDO... Is there a copywrite problem? Seems kind of silly because it would just promote the series...

I can guarantee you that he died, since you fight an undead version of him later on.

I want to see more dragons. Take each higher level explorer area and drop a random red named dragon encounter in there. Make the chest drop cool named loot and/or dragon scales and in addition add an upgrade for current dragon scale items to a second tier with enhanced abilities and higher min level so that people will actually want the scales. Bam, you just added 5 or 6 more loot runs to the game without having to add any dungeon maps or new character models.

Yeah, but he promises to come back that time, too. Maybe a Revenant next time

What kind of evil overlord would bother to raise a guy who failed and died TWICE?

Revenants are different - no one creates them, they create themselves, out of sheer stubbornness, and refusal to stay dead.

Ah, yes, that's right. I need to brush up on my undead lore, I suppose. I've been spending too much time searching for ways to fight purple worms without the party's ranger getting swallowed a dozen times (So far, all I've gotten is "whack in the head twice with a Hammer of Thunderbolts", but the ranger always gets there before me... and I'm the only one with a chance of winning a grapple with the thing. This is in PnP, of course).

Very much so, you voice the idea of multipath questing.

say at the begiigning of a quest there are interconnecting paths in the quests.. one way is for good, the other evil.. or orcs this way.. and elfs that way.. but all path lead to the end and the path chosen changes outcomes.

So you can do a quest over and over and it changes each time you run it.
