    Default DDO Launcher won't launch.

It's just as the title says my launcher won't even open up. It won't generate any launcher logs, nothing. I played the game for a week and then go to login today and the launcher won't open up. The only thing that generates is a file called dndclient.log and it states:

    000000000.000: Invalid Command-line "C:\Program Files\Turbine\Dungeons & Dragons Online - Stormreach\dndclient.exe" : You must specify an account name

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, I've tried just repairing it, I've tried rebooting my computer, I've tried using the backup folder before I did the reinstall. Nothing seems to work it keeps generating that log with that message. Anyone know how to fix that?

EDIT: Well it turns out that, the dndclient.log is generated when I click on the dndclient.exe and not the launcher application. So it probably has nothing to do with my launcher not working. I just tried another uninstall/reinstall and still not going

Please try re-downloading and installing the DDo launhcer before trying to play the game again, follow the instructions below to do so.

    1) Open your Internet browser and navigate to:

    http://download.turbine.com/ddo/ddolauncher_1358_en.exe

    2) Answer "Save" when prompted by the browser, and save dndlauncher_1358.exe to your DDO installation folder.

    e.g. C:\Program Files\Turbine\Dungeons & Dragons Online - Stormreach

    3) Open Windows Explorer and navigate to your DDO installation folder.

    4) Execute dndlauncher_1358.exe by double-clicking on it.

    4) Answer "Yes to All" when prompted whether to overwrite the existing files or not.

    5) Delete the Dungeons and Dragons Folder located in the My Documents folder to erase old configuration settings.

    6) Open the Launcher and you should be able to log in and patch the game correctly.

no dice for me. I don't believe its an issue with the game, it seems to me that Vista is just refusing to open the launcher. I double click on it and the hourglass appears for 1/2 a sec like its loading, but then it goes away and nothing happens. Doesn't matter how many times I try to open it the launcher just won't appear. All the other launchers/load screens for other games I have still work. I'm at a loss support asked for my dxdiag and system info, but no reply since sending it to them 4-5 hours ago. Thanks for trying though appreciate it. Its just odd cause all I did was shut my computer off for the night and the next morning it started doing this.

Have you tried making a new windows user account (NON Admin) then try launching it?

No I tried making one that was Admin... I'll try a non-admin one now.

Nope still didn't work, I've also made sure that my Control Panel>System>Advanced System Settings>Advanced>Performance>Settings>Data Execution Prevention is set to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only."

Which is what everything I've read about people having similar issues with other games said works for them. Didn't help me, as mine was already set to that and the only other option is to turn in on for all programs which I did try. Though I switched it back to windows programs and services only when it didn't work.

The reason this makes no sense to me is that I've made absolutely no changes to any settings, my system is virus/trojan/hijacker/adware free so nothing is keeping it from running that way. All I did was turn off my computer and turn it back on in the morning. And nothing else stopped working. Guess I'll keep waiting for support, though I think they might be closed for today...

Well I've completely eradicated every file I could find that was associated with the game sans any that are important to my system. I'm redownloading a clean copy of the client and will reboot before I install it. If that doesn't fix it then I'll wait for support, but if they can't help me then I guess I'll just cancel my sub, got 4-5 days out of it anyways heh.

Well in the event that anyone else ever has this problem, I found a solution...

I simply uninstalled my .NET framework and reinstalled it. .NET framework v1.1 and then the update. My launcher started opening again. Actually the reason I decided to give that a try was because I attempted to open the launcher in compatibility mode for windows 98, windows 2000, and windows server 2003. All three of those gave me an error saying it couldn't find my .NET framework. When I tried the compatibility mode for XP service pack 2 or no compatibility mode the launcher simply wouldn't open, no error, no message, no nothing.

So I thought I would uninstall my .NET and reinstall it and lo' and behold it worked. I still have no idea, the only possible thing I can think of is that windows update might have downloaded something without my knowledge though there was no system restore point to confirm anything had been installed. Anyways thanks for all the suggestions, and I got it to work again so I'm happy
