You are joking. You have to be, it's the only explanation.

Of course, I do know people who have only made 4 or 5 characters over the last two years...blows my mind a bit, but still...I know 'em.
Suggestion to Turbine: Have new character slots open up automatically based on months since account start date.
Update: EU+Store = close enough. Thank you.

Nothing new to add, really. But I would really like more slots. I mean, I would really, really enjoy them.

    /signed.

P.S. - The Dev silence on this is also a amjor pet peeve of mine. Back when Mod & first came out there was a LOT of forum activity about new slots to try monks. After EXTENDED converstation of several threads, finally someone from Turbine piped up and basically said, "We are working on it." Since then, there has been... *sound of crickets chriping* ... nothing. I followed the thread about what someone heard at GenCon, but please, can we get an answer on this?

Thanks to all those who keep stubbornly raising this issue on the forums.

But I do not think it right that we have to pay for any additional slots until the original ones we had before the server merge are re-opened up for our usage.

NCSoft for COH/V is the other company I know that offers additional slots and the option to purchase addition slots with a max limit of 36 per server. Then again COH/V does not have to keep track of the same amount of information per character then DDO does.

But if you look additional slots from Turbines point of view you have to ask your self are the extra slots feasible, how much will it cost us, how will it impact our overall budget, how would this impact the database in terms of storage and retrieval, load times, and so on.

I personaly, instead for waiting on additional slots and also for my personal convenience I bought a second account a few months after my 1st, yet I only have 6 cap characters, 4 mules and plenty of free slots to do as I please.

Now with that said and for those who want to know how COH extra slots work:

    1 Character Slot - $5.99
    2 Character Slots - $9.99
    5 Character Slots - $19.99

-For every 12 month cumulative period that an account has been subscribed, players will receive 1 free slot. (This in my opinion would make a nice vet award for DDO.)
-Players can now purchase optional character slots on each server with a one-time fee, and not an addition to your monthly subscription fee.
-Players can have up to 36 slots per server.
-Purchases of a single character slot may be allocated to any single server of your choice, subject to the maximum server limit.
-Purchases of multiple slots may be allocated to any single server or split between multiple servers of your choice, subject to the maximum server limit.

    Now where the WDA.

WHAT!?!? A premium service people would actually pay for?? Count me in and SIGNED!
An excellent idea.... could a DEV comment on this or are all of you either a. On Vacation or b. working on a LOTRO update ??

If you are willing to pay for additional slots, why not just pay for a server transfer? It'll open up 8 whole new slots, and 32 point builds, and you can send over plat with your transferred guy.

    It's a no-brainer to me

Because my Guild and friends are on my current server.
Those are the people I want to play with, those are the people I want to level new toons with,
Why would I want to switch servers?

Because you are apparently desperate to roll some new toons?

Maybe if your guild and friends are in the same boat as you, they could move or make new toons on the new server?

And in a years time when he has filled up all 5 servers with those "new" toons? what happens then?

We need new slots, saying "Just go to a new server" doesn't cut it.

    /signed...and this is why.

When I started this game, I rolled a fighter, he got deleted at about level 5 as I realized that he was gimped almost beyond repair and it was far easier to just make a new toon. So I made a cleric, got 400 favor, and rolled a drow sorc, who is now capped. Ground out 1750 favor. In the meantime, I was experimenting with different classes and races, and when I got 32 pt builds I started to make characters for the long term.

I got sick of watching trap boxes blow up, so I made a rogue, now high level.
I got sick of looking for a cleric to fill the group, so I made a cleric, now high level.
I wanted to fix the lack of UMD on my first sorc, although I still love to play her, so I rolled another sorc, now mid level and doing well.
Then I made a fighter, as my rogue was getting disgusted at the lousy tanking I had played with, and figured I could do better.
I realized that I had forgotten CE on my first fighter, and wanted to do better, so I made another one.
Wondering what the attraction was to WF Barbarians, (and pulled a vorpal greataxe rr WF min level 10) so I made one, now mid level.
Made a bard just for the hell of it.

Now I am out of slots, and I still want to make a two weapon fighting dwarven barbarian, a ranger/rogue mix, a pally/rogue mix, a WF sorc/pally, a fighter/cleric or pally/cleric, and a few other ideas.

Where oh where can I put these new toons? I could go to another server, grind out favor (takes me a while), and start over again, but I kind of like my guild and the people I play with on Sarlona. Or, I could delete the toons that I have, but I have invested a lot of time in them, and like to dust them off from time to time to raid with my guild.

Or, Turbine could give me a couple more slots. I would be happy, if I was paying (or they were loyalty rewards) for them Turbine would be happy, it's a win win.

I am sorry if in a years time you fill up all the characters on all the servers, one more slot on your home server is going to do nothing for you absolutly nothing.

I am all for more character slots but dont pretend its because your bored that you want more. 1 more slot will do nothing to quench your thirst to grind to level cap and farm. Admit it, it wont. We will see the same people one month after a new slot is issued requesting more slots.

Dont think of my thread as a no sign for more characters in fact its the opposite. I am merly pointing out the endless cycle of more more more that giving somone an inch will only lead to.

Funny, most people asking for more slots are not asking for one. Slots, plural. We already know that one more slot is like getting one more M&M, one more potato chip...

I think it's not the ones who grind to cap and farm that want the slots the most. Sure, a few want more mule space...but mostly it's the ones who enjoy the journey that want to take that journey some more. Many of the grind-happy ones are still grinding on their capped characters, happy as clams - if anything they want more things to grind on in the lofty upper reaches of the content.

I can think of three characters that I want to create still. Once a couple of my others (11th and 12th right now) get up to wherever the cap is (or wherever their gear limits them to being) I'll probably want to work on new characters until I can progress the old ones further. Once those get up to the mid levels I'd probably start switching between them and yet another new character to keep things lively. Been doing it for what, 2 1/2 years now...doubt I'll change until the game's artificial limit forces me to.

would it really be so much to ask for another slot to create a new toon? After all, m sure we all killed one off as is to make a monk, and certainly the monks awfully tricky to use as a class, without being totally worthless in a group. But what are you gonna do when you have invested tomes n gear on one? Do i eat it on him all together or do i even see if they are gonna make them better as a class?

You want to attract new players? Give the veterans the chance to have more lowbies running around.

C'mon Turbine - it can't be that hard.
Agreed. When I get on now I can only run L13-16 stuff, no room for new lowbies, so half the time I end up logging off because that's all thats going on at the moment.

They can either open up more slots and get a little more money from me for this premium service.

Or they can count on me hanging out just a little while longer before the bordom makes my next break from the game permanent.

Exactly...I always had chars at 2 or 3 levels at any point in ime. Grinding bores me. Once they hit cap I might run them a little, but why keep running the same quests on the same chars just to find a 1/100 chance of finding an item that will give you a +1 to something or to stockpile more fake money you have no use for.

I want to make more chars! Trying new things is what I liked about DDO.
