Default Broken High Res download link?

    Hi there!

Recently got a new computer due to the old one just deciding the old home wasn't good enough and that it was independent. . .

So, yeah, a new one was needed. This one's got Vista, obviously, and a great graphics card / processor. Soon as I connected to the internet, I went to this link:

    http://turbine.fuzeqna.com/ddo.suppo....asp?kbid=4761

To download the high-res files. . . But the link to high-res is broken. Standard works just fine, but I'd like the high-res to I can run the game to its fullest potential. (Especially with the new graphics updates on the way that I've been hearing about!)

Is this just my problem? Or is it a problem server-side?

Need mah DDO fix, and would like to get going on the download ASAP. Thanks!

The high-res link is working fine for me. Just checked.

Unless you're saying AFTER you download the large installer, something happens. I just checked to see if it started downloading.

Hmm. . . Must be my end, then.

And sorry if I wasn't clear. What I meant was, I click "HERE" like it says for high-res, but no file is prompted to download. A white page just pops up, like a broken link or just a blank web page.

I'll try restarting my machine/Firefox real quick. For whatever reason, I didn't think to do that before making the thread. Let's see if that helps.

    -D

EDIT: Nope. Restarting Firefox and the machine itself still presents a white page.

Have you tried right-clicking/save as method?

Although I just clicked the link and it started popping. Might be firefox?

Ok.. Now it's not working for me.

They have issues, so it seems.

Have tried both of those as well. Right clicking and using Save As will save a file size of 0 bytes which can be opened by Firefox. Which leads me to the blank page.

Have tried Internet Explorer as well. In IE it tells me "The webpage cannot be found. HTTP 404. Most likely causes: There might be a typing error in the address. If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date."

Have also tried the Game Software link on the ddo.com site itself, instead of in the help system. Another broken link.

    -D

EDIT: Should also mention that I have tried a download that comes via e-mail. I used the August 2008 newsletter. It allows me to download a downloader, but. . . As soon as it tries to begin, it tells me the files are "out of date", if I recall correctly. It then directs me to the help system page, where I find the broken link again. Argh. Seemed so close. . . Yet so far.

Ok, upon further investigation, I must have clicked the wrong link initially when I got results.

    Here is some data

    Standard - http://download.ddo.level3.turbine.c...tandardRes.exe

    HighRes - http://download.level3.turbine.com/l...er-HighRes.exe

As you can see, the HighRes download links to a file in the Mod6 folder, whereas the Standard links to a file in the Mod7 folder. I've been tinkering with folder/filenames to see if I can 'accidently' hit the proper file, but I'm leaning towards thinking that they neglected to put it anywhere.

Default DDO website link needs fixing.

I was just about to post a thread for this exact issue and then I saw this one. The link is still broken as of 8/29/08.
Is there someway to escalate this up to turbine rather than just posting it in a peer support forum?

Since it's been about 3 days, I just thought I would ask if there's a possible timeframe of when a High Res download will be available? I've got Jade Empire and (downloading) RF Online to tide me over until one is available, but it'd be nice to know at least a rough estimate that I can tell my friends of when I'll be back in game.

    Thanks!

    Default ok, silly question time.

I have no idea if i have Hi-res or not. My puter is super-uber. Liquid cooled cpu, overclocked, etc. I run ddo now at full graphics settings. Or so i thought. If im just running standard res in its highest setting, i want more! Anyone know how i can check?

ingame if you have very high for texture quality you have the high res files. Being that it is a long weekend no one is around that can fix the link currently, sorry.

Sorry for double post, but would just like to say that, anyone hesitant about that link, doesn't have to worry much -- I'm back up and running in the game. It works beautifully. Gets the files, and no bumps or errors or anything like that.

    Thanks again. You're a lifesaver.
