Wizard or Sorc?
Suggest some builds please.
I'm sure it's been covered before, but I'm just being lazy.

Hey Yabba,
Check my signature line for some details on WF builds variously posted on the forums. You can go either way. Now that WoFire doesnt stack as easily as it once did (i.e., 6 firewalls on red named mobs), I find that my UMD and stealth capable Wizard's ability to cast multiple stacking AOE and DOT spells (e.g., Acid Fog, Wofire, Incinderary Cloud, Acid Arrow, etc.), all the debuffs, and various quest specific spells is critical for soloing end game content.
Many folks will chime in, Im sure, but pure class WF Wizard can solo the Stormreaver, swap in some other spells, and tackle another end game quest solo, or help your guildies.

Current Lineup: Daemonis, Jagannath, Engineered, & Nekromanteia
Wall of Fire doesn't stack in the sense that its effect is non-stackable, but they are now slightly blade barrier-like and cause damage the moment that a monster gets in a 20x20 foot square that the Wall of Fire resides in. If you make 6 very close Walls of Fire and run a monster through it, they will quickly take 6 sets of Wall of Fire damage (great for melee monsters like animals and flesh renders). This spell is still a force to be reckoned with in knowledgeable hands.Originally Posted by Daemonis
As far as soloing goes (for things like Vale quests, Litany of the Dead, Gianthold quests, and so on), my Sorcerer still tends to have an easier time than my stealth-based Wizard.

My level 4 WF wiz has enough str to be effective in melee with the masters touch/bulls/blur spells and a flaming pure good GS. In groups I am a typical caster, but soloing this guy is VERY fun. I mix up stealth and brute force, with a lean towards brute force. I know its still low level content but its going at a quick pace that I want to keep up through the void of levels 7-10.
My starting strength is 14 with a +2 str tome in the bank and I am tempted to splash fighter at 5 and eat the tome on this guy. Primary reasoning being to help the melee aspect while soloing. Lets face it, stealth is great with an arcane but sometimes you gotta smack stuff around.
I realize end game that splash of fighter is only a few hit points and a feat (toughness), but I'm thinking it would really help me out in the mid level void of 7-10 and not hurt too bad at 14-16.
Anyone else done this? Thoughts and advice appreciated...that +2 str tome is just screaming at me
Toughness isn't a Fighter bonus Feat. I think 14 Strength was too much, and I think Fighter would be really bad. If you're gonna be a Melee Wizard, do that--High Str, High Con, Minimal Int--if you're gonna be a Caster Wizard, do that--High Int, High Con--sort of twiddling around between the two doesn't seem like a good idea.
Yabba - Pyro (1 fighter/ rest wizard) is able to solo anything and has been a blast to level.
Starting stats were:
STR 15 (then a +1 tome)
DEX 8
CON 17 (then a +1 tome)
INT 18 (then a +2 tome)
WIS 6
CHA 6
Level ups into INT. The versatility of a wizard is just awesome and spell points aren't really a problem with a high starting INT. Nor are DCs for any spells that require them.
As money isn't an issue for you I'd make STR and CON both 16 and use +2 tomes on them.
Mana isn't usually a problem either. I do stoneskin off wands and heal using wands and scrolls and save all my mana for buffing and killing.
Pyro is as much about playstyle as the build. He certainly can tank with stoneskin and displacement, but at end game he'll be fully capable of playing caster too.
If you roll up a WF wiztank I'll make a WF character to level up with you. I think a 1 rogue / rest wiz version would also be truck loads of fun.

try a cleric build for solo
Yes I am insane whats it to you
Alistair, my build is very similar except 1 less point in str / con and put them into dex with the mithral body feat for modest AC. The reason I started this build was to try the WF 1ftr / 15 wiz claims out on my own and to keep things going in game since I've never leveled a caster or played a WF before.
I went ahead with the fighter level and am very pleased sitting at 5 wiz/1 ftr. As a solo build at these levels its very solid considering available spells and mana pool. In a group I can effectively switch between off-tank or caster. My intent for this build is to be viable as a solo build and be effective as an end game content caster.
At level 6 I have no complaints, in fact at this point I favor this build over my "me-too" dwarven tempest ranger who is also level 6 (5 rngr/1 ftr).
Glad you're enjoying it!
The fighter level gives:
extra feat
intimidate as a class skill
fighter haste boost
martial weapon proficiency (less important with Master's Touch, but still nice to have "native")
Yabba - I also have ML 8 warforged RR disruptor, banisher and smiter that you can use. I'm also looking to complete the power 5 WF ML 8 set...
